This is that we are redeemed by the Lord for the purpose of consecrating ourselves and all our members to Him.- So writes John Calvin as he begins to expound this twelfth chapter of Romans. Knowing you do not have any entitlement to God's mercy, but have in Christ Jesus received mercy, is the driving power for pursuing a life of consecrated service to God. We come now to consider living for God and His Son Jesus the Christ.

Paul give you the three basic presuppositions of the Biblical worldview in three short phrases- from Him, through Him, to Him. Your view of creation, of God, and of your relationship to both must be built upon the truths of creation, providence, and glory. Many today blur the distinction between creation and providence and in so doing lose the Biblical conception of creation and hence live in fantasy, not reality.

Truth, Adoration, Decisions- you can outline Romans in these three categories. Paul teaches you the doctrines of Christianity, then he worships God, and only then does he exhort you how to make righteous decisions in life. God pleasing obedience must flow out of worship.
