This story is what might be called -a living parable.- Unlike the parables that Jesus told, this is an actual event. However, like a parable, this story is here not only to provide additional proof of who Jesus is, but also to point us toward a deeper spiritual reality. Namely, the difference between those who see and those who don't, and how that comes to be.

What you understand about the cross of Christ will determine how you understand God. If your understanding of the atonement is wrong, then almost everything else regarding your understanding of God will be wrong. Lose sight of the cross of Christ, and your understanding of God will be skewed.

What does it mean to be a Christian- What does it mean to live the Christian life- One of the biggest mistakes people make-if not the biggest mistake people make-in answering that question is that they think about the Christian life in the sense of doing, in the sense of following a list of rules, a list of do's and don'ts. But being like Christ is so much more than that.

The single most important question that can ever be asked is -Who is Jesus-- This question is not just important for the hereafter but, as a Christian, how you deal with the challenges and disappointments in life, how you respond to the ups and downs this world will throw at you, will be determined by what you really believe about that one question-Who is Jesus-

The parable of the generous landowner is in response to Peter's question in 19-27, -What's in it for us-- For those who have abandoned everything to follow Christ, will there be a greater reward than for those who come to Christ at the end of their life or those who follow Christ just enough to enter into eternal life- What did Jesus mean when he said 'the first will be last and the last will be first'-

Though the Bible exhorts us to repent and believe and to pursue holiness and godliness throughout our lives, it is important to remember that salvation is all of God from beginning to end. It is God who enables us to follow Christ, and then it is God who rewards us for following Christ. In the end, God gets all the glory-
