Our Pastor Dane Mesane preached on “Entering His Rest”

What a deep solid word, what a paradigm shift. Some notes on the message 

The Sabbath rest, observed on the seventh day as a day of rest and worship, is considered a shadow of the spiritual rest that believers find in Christ (Matthew 11:28-30). 

In Hebrews 4:9-10, the Sabbath rest is seen as a foretaste of the eternal rest believers will enjoy in the presence of God.

In Numbers 21:4-9, Moses lifted up a bronze serpent to heal the Israelites bitten by venomous snakes, which is seen as a shadow of Jesus being lifted up on the cross to bring salvation to all who look to Him in faith (John 3:14-15).

The story of Jonah spending three days and nights in the belly of a great fish (Jonah 1:17) is used by Jesus as a sign of His own death, burial, and resurrection, with Jesus spending three days and nights in the tomb before His resurrection (Matthew 12:40).

The symbolism of Jesus' crucifixion, particularly the piercing of His side…

The blood and water flowing from Jesus' side, as mentioned in John 19:34, the flow of blood and water as symbolising Jesus' dual nature—His humanity and divinity. The blood represents His human aspect, while the water signifies His divine nature or the Holy Spirit.   

This speaks of new creation and new birth found in the Gospel of John, drawing parallels to the creation account in Genesis and the concept of being "born again" in John 3:3.  

The piercing of Jesus' side not only confirmed His death but also fulfilled messianic prophecies, linking Jesus' crucifixion to Old Testament references, such as the Passover lamb in Exodus, whose bones were not to be broken, and the prophecy in Zechariah about the one whom they have pierced.  

Entering God's rest, as discussed in Hebrews 3 and 4, is deeply tied to faith and obedience, drawing from the example of the Israelites who failed to enter the promised rest due to disbelief and disobedience. This concept extends beyond just physical rest or a particular day of the week, focusing on a spiritual state that believers can enter through faith in Jesus Christ.

This morning our Bro Harold’s message to the Church was to encourage and remind us that Christ Jesus is the redeemer of the condemned.

The reason God’s children experience condemnation, it’s due to consumption. The coversations we keep, the programs we consumed. 

Are we consuming Christ? Are we consuming His word? The word of God is the answer, we are redeemed.

Psychology vs Spirituality, what a power punch message Pastor Dane taught and preached this morning. 

Reminding believers that our whole life and walk should be regulated and conducted by faith, our emotions should never lead the way.

Our spirituality is more real than that of our five senses.

Faith is a product of the heart! Which is the spiritual realm. We need to regulate and conduct our lives by faith.

God did not design us to be emotionally dependent on anyone but only on Him. Only God’s word can bring stability and maturity in our emotions.

Christ Culture will be a church where the truth of Jesus Christ, will be preached. Where the Holy Spirit leads. 

God has given us control over our emotions. How we respond and how we react to situations and circumstances. 

As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, it is our responsibility to take accountability for our emotions. We cannot everytime shift blame to others, but it starts with us. We need to take account of our actions and emotions.

Part 6: God’s attitude towards emotions.

Once again through the message we were reminded that our emotions are a beautiful thing but it should not be in the driving seat of our decisions.

God has given us the authority to take ownership of our emotions. How we respond and how we treat people is on us.

As born again believers, In Christ everyday should be a good day .

This morning at Christ Culture Church the tangible presence and anointing of God filled the room. 

Pastor Dane once again reminded us that all the negativity and bad information, can congest our mind and thinking to the point of making bad decisions.

God wants to unclog our minds, He wants to clear our minds. It can only be done by keeping our mind and thoughts stayed on Jesus Christ.

Most Christians live life no different than their unsaved neighbours. Most Christians relate to the world than the things of Christ. We are more sensitive to people’s feelings rather than being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. 

We need to see things from God’s perspective. There is no reason for you to live a sick life, or a defeated life or in poverty. In Christ we have overcome the world, We are victors.
