Paul interviews Dr. Darrel Proffitt, an Episcopal priest who has served four different churches during his ministry, from Chicago to Houston. His local church in Lawrence Kansas was recognized as the second fastest growing Episcopal Church in the United States.
He served Church of the Holy Apostles in Katy Texas from November 2007 to February 2018 before his decision to step down from full-time ministry to focus on writing and helping other congregations. Currently Darrel is working on his first book, reflecting on his time in congregational leadership.
Darrel's decision to leave full-time congregational leadership emerged from the tragic death of his son. He and his wife Julie, are parents of two other children and three grandchildren. He describes his grief work as a "fundamental re-working of his theology." What emerged was an inclusive view of God's love and mercy.
His messages can be found at https://vintagelawrence.com/ and at http://www.cotha.org.
