Are you the rich young ruler who claims that he has done right from birth, following all commandments and never doing wrong in Luke chapter 18? Or are you like Zacchaeus - have a submitted heart to the Lord, willing to give through benevolence and restitution for all who need it in Luke chapter 19?

This Sunday, Pastor Tim digs into these contrasts and helps us to learn, in our own lives, how Jesus is Lord over our resources.

The Parable of the Sower in Mark chapter 4 is an often quoted scripture when discussing our hearts capacity to accept the word of God and grow to produce fruitfulness. As Pastor Tim discusses this parable, he asks us to view each soil through the lens of Jesus, not only as Savior (the one who has come to save us from sin) but as Lord of our lives, as one who has the power of deciding.

Being surrendered to the lordship of Jesus brings us to the point of being a "healthy tree bearing good fruit" as described in Matthew chapter 7. But it's more than just a declaration or the ability to cast out demons or proclaim the name of Jesus. We have to submit to Jesus the "power of deciding."

Through the course of John chapter 6 we see a slow change that occurs through the narrative. Initially Jesus was popular, there was plenty of food for all, and the message he shared had a deep impact on those who heard it. Then towards the end, the teaching was more challenging and food wasn't as abundant. This resulted in many of Christ's followers leaving him!

This often is like church for us today. The initial revelation of Christ as our Savior -- we receive his forgiveness, we are cleansed, and we have a new hope and future. But as our walk continues in our faith, we often find ourselves being challenged and corrected by our Lord in many things and we often aren't willing to give up or change some (or most) of those things.

This Sunday Pastor Tim, walks us through the text and shows us how, even then, many people had difficulties accepting the Lordship of Jesus.

The word "Lord" in the New Testament means more than a title or name, it describes a position of authority. Often in today's church, we are quick to recognize, and say, "Jesus is Lord" when we are speaking of salvation, but when it comes to allowing him to have the "power of deciding" in our lives we quickly shy away from his Lordship.

This Sunday, Pastor Tim beings the series, "Lord of All" by helping us understand "Lordship" and what it means in our life.

In Acts chapter 15 we read about how the leaders and elders of the church at the time had to come together to debate an issue. Ultimately James, the brother of Jesus, made the decision but not before he has a chance to hear from other elders in the church.

In this next season for Grace, Pastor Tim has appointed Elders to come alongside both Susan and him to guide the church. Take a few minutes to learn more about their roles and responsibilities.

James chapter 1 tells us to be "doers of the word" and not just hearers and that following Jesus will result in a life that joyfully serves others.

The most precious worship we can offer God is not singing, shouting, reciting, declaring, mediating, lifting hands, or dancing before him.  The action that most fully brings our adoration, exaltation to God is personal sacrifice -- presenting ourselves to God, not in part, not with reservations, not only on Sundays,  but fully through each moment of our lives. THIS is our spiritual act of worship.

Worship is warfare and it is one of the most powerful weapons in our arsenal against the enemy. In 2 Chronicles 20 we learn about an instance where worship preceded a battle, was celebrated during battle, and continued following the battle.
God has already won the battle for you. Are you trusting Him to do it?

In Acts chapter 16, Paul and Silas were arrested and experienced an unforgettable "bad day." But, what do they do in the midst of that jail cell is likely what would be the last thing on our minds! They worship God!
No matter the situation that you are in, it's an appropriate time for worship. Good - bad - ugly...none of it is a surprise to the Lord and it's our joy to worship Him through it all.
