In a world full of brokenness and hidden agendas, integrity can feel like a lost art. But Jesus calls his followers to a radically different standard of honesty, and ultimately, a different lifestyle. Letting our 'yes be yes', strengthens us, sharpens us and ultimately, reflects the true nature of Christ.

Part of being a disciple of Jesus, is that we open our hearts to strangers and outsiders. Disciples have always done this, and our city needs us to do this now.

Through the story of Naaman, we reflect on expectations we hold of God and consider how we are to be growing in Christ-likeness and not harbouring a bitter, callous heart.

In a culture increasingly engineered to treat people as objects or data points, Jesus demonstrates that sin i fundamentally a dehumanising force and offers a radical path to restore the "relational beauty" for which we were originally designed. Reclaiming our true humanity begins with rejecting dehumanisation and prioritising the urgent work of reconciliation.

Matthew 5:17-20Jesus fulfills the Law by revealing it's true intention - heart transformation, not mere rule-keeping. Righteousness that surpasses the Pharisees flows from an inward renewal by God's Spirit, not external compliance. The Law points to faithful living, and through grace, Jesus restores and reshapes hearts to genuinely love and obey God.

'The Beatitudes'Jesus' beatitudes reveal the Kingdom's countercultural values - where mercy, purity, peacemaking, and endurance in persecution are truly blessed. These reflect God's own character and call us to live differently from the world. As the Kingdom confronts our hearts, yielding to Jesus transforms us into people who embody His reconciling, merciful reign.

Who Is The Blessed?

Jesus sends His disciples to look for "people of peace", those who are open, welcoming, and receptive to both them and the message of the Kingdom. These individuals become relational gateways through whom the gospel spreads naturally into wider networks, rather than through forced or scattered efforts. Our role is to discern where God is already at work and partner with those who are ready to receive and multiply that work."So Good!"

Paul calls believers to unity through humble, self-giving love, modeled perfectly by Jesus. True community requires laying down status, power, and rights for others, overcoming fear that resists sacrifice. Trusting God’s promise to restore and exalt, we can love courageously, knowing our lives are secure in Christ and His coming renewal.

When Jesus chose his disciples, He chose them for a reason, and with a purpose. Jesus didn't choose the sorts of disciples that other Rabbi's would normally choose. He chose disciples from all walks of life, all sorts of mindsets, upbringings, lifestyles and occupations. They were not the best of the best, and they were the ones who had been overlooked. But still, Jesus chose them. Just like He chooses all of us.
