This week we will explore Peter’s teaching to live differently, as exiles, in the times in which we live. ​

 

Are you full of the joy of your salvation? Joy is to be a characteristic of the follower of Jesus. In this second "Different" message from 1 Peter we will look deeply into what joy is and how to experience it as a follower of Jesus. 

 

In this first message in our "Different" series from 1 Peter we will see that Peter establishes some identifying characteristics of the follower of Jesus and then identifies what it means to live as a new creation in Jesus. This is very relevant teaching as we live in a time that is confused and conflicted and we must be established in who we are in Christ.

This week we will conclude our series in Ruth as we see how God can bring blessing and redemption out of brokenness.

This week we will look at Ruth 4:1-12 as we see how God used Boaz, a Kinsman-Redeemer, to restore the lives of Ruth and Naomi. Boaz demonstrates Christlikeness as he shows how we can become God's instruments of grace to others. Often God's grace comes in the form of a person and we who love Jesus will be used by God to grace the lives of others as we follow His ways and use the gifts and resources He has given us to benefit others. This is what it means to be "grace givers". ​

 

Ruth, a Moabite woman, once a foreigner to God's people Israel, grows in grace quickly and demonstrates a reliance on God's ways. She has not only embraced God, she is willing to live her life according to His ways, relying on Him for divine intervention.

 

We are on the second week in our Ruth series and in this message, from Ruth chapter 2, we see that Ruth begins to encounter the blessings of a kinsman redeemer. She goes out to glean after the harvesters ending up in Boaz's field, who is a kinsman redeemer. This message looks at what this means and how it points to what believers experience in Jesus who is our kinsman redeemer. 

 

This message begins a 5-week series from the book of Ruth. In this series we will see how God takes a ruined life and redeems it. The one who is redeemed is to live in reliance on God, experiencing restoration and a renewed identity. In this first message we will see that we may make plans but ultimately God orders our steps. Sometimes what we view as problems are the means that God uses to touch our lives deeply.

When you see injustice, what is your response?  When your faith is trampled on, what do you do?  When God gives you the opportunity to take part in His work, do you have a willing heart?  In the book of Judges, Deborah praises those who don’t sit on the sidelines, but willingly offer themselves to fight for the Lord.
