GracePointe Church of Christ in Elizabethtown, PA

This sermon looks back on 2020's theme "Braving Belief" and reflects on what GracePointe has experienced in the last year.

Looking at the text of Scripture in Numbers 25, we pause to ask the larger question "Why Does God Get Angry?"

This sermon explores the oracles of Balaam and shows how God protects and profits Israel even when others are trying to activitly curse the people.

This sermon explores the Text of Numbers 21:4-9 and how God seeks to deal with human rebellion and sin.

This sermon explores the sin of Moses and the responsibilities of godly leadership

Rebellion spreads from the 12 spies to the people. Led by Korah, 250 leaders of Israel have had enough of Moses.  And the who people are not happy with the situation in the Wilderness.  God has to respond to this growing rebellion among the people, His people, and so this sermon explores the rebellous attitudes and actions of the people.

This sermon looks at the text of Hebrews 5:11-6:20 and explores the contrast made by the author between the immature and the mature when it comes to faith in Jesus.  This context of spiritual development allows us to take a look at ourselves and our church to continue in our faithful pursuit of the life of Christ made possible by the work of Christ.

This sermon explores the text of Hebrews 7 and follows the writer's claim that Jesus has become the King-Priest over all of God's people through the order of Melchizedek (a mysterious King-Priest found blessing Abram in Genesis 14).  The point Hebrews makes is that Jesus' work is both accomplished and ongoing, Jesus accomplished salvation at the cross and now reigns as King, and Jesus continues to mediate the relationship between God and humanity as a Priest. Therefore, we are to have confidence that in Jesus we are in the right relationship with God.

Hebrews makes the claim that Jesus is our High Priest, so what exactly does that mean and what application does that have for us, today, who really know nothing of high priests and such people...

This sermon explores the content of Hebrews 3 and encourages us to stay faithful in our own wilderness experience as we navigate the space between God's deliverance and the fulfillment of God's promise.
