In this time of Christmas - Do we live in the Hope of the Coming Jesus? I hope you are filled with hope in the middle of all the things that surround us. That despite what other sources say and claim, you look to the Bible for truth... And in the middle of truth you will find Jesus… the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.
So choose to Live in Hope this Christmas!
This Week, take time to look and listen for the Kingdom of God, because it is only those who have found the Kingdom who can proclaim it and lead others to it. But I suspect that if we take some time to look and listen, we will see what Jesus was saying - that the world is filled with LIFE and HEALING and in this we are to be refreshed and filled with joy!
We must consider a future orientation, and this is especially true during this season of Christmas. After all, Christ came to set us free from our past: being victims of time and slaves to our memories. The surest way to stop dwelling on the past is to look at what is certain about the future.
If you asked people to learn from you, listen to you, watch you, and follow you on social media…
The danger we face is in confusing what we do with what God does. This danger comes in believing that how we worship saves us and having the proper church organization, or proper processes, saves us. Therefore the focus is placed on what we have done and are doing and we are warned by Paul not to fall into that trap. We may arrive at the belief that what we do will earn our salvation. We then possess pride in our religious practices and loose sight of God's work. We find ourselves relying on our own power to gain salvation. All of our efforts, all of our heritage, and all of our achievements fall short of God’s standard, and without Christ, we have nothing!
The lesson pf Philippians 2 is about a truth that is true whether we choose to feel it or not.
We have chosen to participate in the Gospel, and the truth I must tell you today is that we do not control the Gospel, but the Gospel controls us. When we enter the story of crucifixion and resurrection, we are in the process of dying to our own desires; to our own script and allowing God’s will to be done; God’s story to be written into our lives!
When we suffer, not by consequences of our own actions, but because life throws something at us or enemies of Jesus Christ seek to humiliate us, we are participating in the gospel when we stand firm in our faith and praise God in the midst of the chaos.
Do you trust that God is working in this place among these people?
A leader once said, “Nothing can be most absurd then the practice that prevails in our country of men and women not following the same pursuits with all their strengths and with one mind, for thus, the state instead of being whole is reduced to half.” - Plato
Leadership allows us all to move in the same direction, under the same guidance, and good leadership empowers and inspires all of us to be creative within the guidelines established.
