Daniel 10 contains the first vision given to Daniel and it not only reveals the future of the kingdoms that impacted Israel and the world ruler that will emerge from them, it also is one of the few places in the Old Testament that reveals the special relationship between God the Father (the Ancient of Days) and God the Son (the Son of Man). Daniel’s Son of Man is the ultimate man who comes into the presence of the Ancient of Day to be crowned with all authority, is worshipped by all nations and rules a kingdom that will never end.

Perhaps the most well known narrative from the book of Daniel is that of Daniel in the lion’s den. Because of his integrity, Daniel refused to privatize his faith by obeying a government edict that violated God’s Word. His character and actions are certainly a model for us. But more than a model for us, they are a foreshadowing of the Greater Daniel Jesus Christ who entered the ultimate lion’s den of God’s wrath for us, died and rose from the dead. And because He did we now can go into the “little lion dens” of our lives with confidence that God is with us and will never leave us.
