John, Raheel, and Del roll into the second hour joined by Harris County Sports Authority Patti Smith by phone to discuss the development of Houston’s new XFL team, the Houston sports Hall of Fame, the NFL draft, and the possibility of Houston getting a NHL team. Raheel gives his take on the game between the Washington Wizards and Brooklyn Nets and how there was little to none fan enthusiasm for the Wizards. The guys take calls from listeners for Throw Shade Thursday. They close the hour with Raheel being excited to take his daughter to see Peppa Pig this weekend and news on the Tinder dating app.

John, Raheel, Lance, and Del start the first hour with Raheel recapping his trip to the nation’s capital during the memorial services for the late President George HW Bush. The guys are also joined by XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck via phone to discuss the new XFL football team coming to Houston, the game differences between the NFL and XFL, and when coaching staff will be brought on board. The guys later discuss hometown pitcher Nathan Eovaldi being signed to the Boston Red Sox instead of the Astros. Later, Lance shares his story of dining in a restaurant while Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and his guests came into the restaurant. The guys discuss the latest comments from Warriors’ forward Kevin Durant on LeBron James. To close the hour, John and Raheel give their take on whether the XFL can be successful.

The guys get the second hour rolling with some criticism of a new PETA policy about changing phrases to be more sympathetic to animals, and then pivot to over-under’s in the upcoming CFB bowl games. Then the gang gets around to discussing the recent realignment talk in college football, including how the Big XII could split up should it dissolve. In keeping up with What are the Odds Wednesday the guys look at the lines for who could be the next James Bond, among other none sports bets that could be made. To close the show the fellas talked about Notre Dame and their path to the playoffs, having no conference.

Raheel is still out of town so Lance sticks around to fill in for a while and the guys take a call from a fan wondering if the Rockets should trade James Harden that leads to a conversation about the team since Tilman Fertitta took over ownership. Longtime listener and fan Gilbert calls in to share a surprising story about his recent legal issues! The Astros have signed Robinson Chirinos to help at the catcher position and John and Del breakdown the merit of the move. To wrap up the guys discussed Urban Meyer and Kareem Hunt’s future.

To start the second hour of the show, John and Del play John vs. Genius as John does his best interpretation of Rich the Kid’s song “Plug Walk” and they compare it to the actual song and its lyrical significance according to Genius. As the hour rolls on, they try to decipher the meaning of the plug walk and discuss the breaking news that Kliff Kingsbury is headed to be the OC at USC. With Raheel out of town, John and Lance begin the first hour of with some Oreo-related hilarity and a debate over who should win the Heisman Tua or Kyler Murray. As the hour continues, they discuss the coaching vacancy in Green Bay, what the future might hold for Urban Meyer, and the terribly awkward scenes at the Ballon D’Or ceremony in France. To close the hour, they grill Tyler for coming into work a couple minutes late.

Raheel is out so Tyler Scott comes in early to step in the producer’s booth while Del hops on the studio mic as the guys discuss which rap songs Granato will end up interpreting this week, which then pivots to a discussion about the Sugar Bowl and how the Longhorns will fair. This turns into a bigger look at CFB in general and what bowl games are more favorable to the smaller teams. With Raw tonight at the Toyata Center the guys talk some wrestling and are even joined former pro-footballer turned wrestler Baron Corbin. And to wrap up the hour the gang takes a look at Brett Farve getting tricked into doing a shout out for a white supremacist group on social media under the guise that he was doing a video for a veterans group.

Lance sticks around to talk about the Kareem Hunt altercation and whether the league did their due diligence in investigating the situation having not spoken to any of the people involved. Then the guys talk about the leftover narrative from the bad start to the Texans season about Bill O’Brien not being a great coach and compare O’Brien’s tenure to the 2 previous Texans head coaches. Lance tried Taki’s for the first time yesterday and is still feeling the consequences of that this morning. And to wrap up the first hour the guys try to figure out where Raheel is, as he definitely told the team he would be out, but nobody paid attention to why or where he went.
