We are living in turbulent times. Some may say, "Jesus must be coming soon!" Maybe; maybe not. We don't know when the Second Coming will be. What we do know is that we are commanded to be prepared. Besides there is another "end" besides the Second Coming to be prepared for.

What kind of freedom does Christ offer? Galatians 5

This deals with what concsience is and how it works while also looking at John the Baptist, Herod Antipas, and Herodias.

As Paul deals with criticisms from the Corinthians, he not only defends himself (see earlier lesson "A Defensible Life"), but he also points them to the God we need. Getting God is correct focus sometimes helps us deal with one another in the right way too, because we learn lessons about mercies, comfort, and promises.

The Pharisees and scribes grumbled, "This man receives sinners and eats with them." Thus begins three parables where Jesus shows God's love for lost souls. 

King Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and the LORD rescued him from a million man army.

Learning the importance of a moment.

When Paul received criticism for his travel plans from the Corinthians, he gives us instructions on how to have a defensible life.

Paul has six major contrasts in 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10) and all of them help us understand walking by faith.

Paul teaches that civil government is instituted by God. God delegates authority to it. Government is for our good because the wrongdoer is punished, and we do not have social anarchy.  Because of this we to obey it. We are also repsonsible to pay taxes and to give honor and respect. But because God is higher than civil government when God's claim on us is in conflict with civil governement, we must obey God rather than men.
