This week, we will continue in our series through Ephesians by considering Ephesians 1:3-14. This passage, which is in the form of a traditional Hebrew blessing prayer, is an outpouring of praise to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit for all that they have accomplished in our salvation. While the text is rich in theological depth, it is also to celebrated for its simplicity. My aim in the sermon this week is to unpack the basic gospel vocabulary that Paul uses to build a foundation for understanding the simple truth of the gospel: God has done immeasurably more than you could ever imagine in saving you from you sin and bringing you into a relationship with Himself.
