For today’s show, Tuesday host Carousel Bayrd talks about uncovering UW–Madison’s campus history with Kacie Lucchini Butcher, director of the Public History Project. They discuss some of the project’s research, including fraternity ties to the Ku Klux Klan, housing discrimination, blackface and minstrelsy on campus, and the UWPD.
Then, Maia Pearson from Rise joins to talk about the continuing racial discrimination students face in Wisconsin colleges, with findings from their latest report on the state of students of color.
Kacie Lucchini Butcher is the director of the Public History Project at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Maia Pearson is the Wisconsin State Director of Rise.
