Which should be more important?  Getting our prayers answered or Getting to know God.

Paul said, “That I may know Him”. Philippians 3:10   God answers our prayers in one of four ways: 1.  Sometimes God says NO. 2.  Sometimes God says GROW. 3.  Sometimes God says SLOW. 4.  Sometimes God says GO.

How would you describe your prayer life?

God’s Invitation in Prayer:  Four Stages   Stage 1.  Is to meet with Him daily and share our needs and concerns with Him.  (Appointment with God). 1 John 1:3   Stage 2.  Is to intimately know Him:  Who He is.  (Communion - Knowing God). Philippians 3:10   Stage 3.  Is to participate with Him in His purposes.  (Participation in His purpose).  Romans 8:28   Stage 4.  Is to become partners with Him in all His ways.  (Partnership in His ways).  1 Corinthians 1:9

Five Statements that will change your life:   1.  God is able.  I am not.   2.  God knows what is best.  I do not.   3.  God sees the end from the beginning.  I cannot.   4.  God should have His way in this process.  I should not.   5.  God must be glorified through this.  I must not.

How would you describe your prayer life?

Prayer = is communication between God and His children.  All communication involves both talking and listening.   Daily Prayer is mentioned over 250 times in the Bible.   The Importance of Daily Prayer:   - Daily Prayer is an act of worship and obedience.  (1 Thess. 5:16-18)   - Daily Prayer is needed for daily circumstances.  (Matthew 6:11)   - Daily Prayer is needed for confessing sin and repenting.  (Psalm 32:5, 1 John 1:9)   - Daily Prayer is our opportunity to thank God and show gratitude for all He provides for us.  (1 Chronicles 16:34). (Psalm 9:1)   - Daily Prayer is our way to acknowledge Who is really in control.  (1 Chronicles 29:11)

How important is the Word of God to you? How much time do you spend reading it compared to other books, watching TV, or social media?   1.  The Word of God is inspired by God.  (2 Timothy 3:16) 2.  The Word of God is God’s total message to man.  (John 1:1,14) 3.  The Word of God is living and active.  (Hebrews 4:12) 4.  The Word of God is our source of salvation.  (Romans 10:17)  (1 Peter 1:23) 5.  The Word of God is essential for spiritual growth.   - Milk  (1 Peter 2:2) - Meat (Hebrews 5:12-13) 6.  The Word of God keeps us from stumbling into sin.  (Psalm 119:105) - Lamp - feet - Light. - path 7.  The Word of God endures forever and is the Final Word.  (1 Peter 1:24-25). (Revelation 19:11-16)

Key Scriptures: Ephesians 4:1-6, Psalm 133:1    620,000.  What does this number represent?   Core Values = Your fundamental beliefs that guide your behavior, your decisions, and your actions.   Unity is first mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 2:24   Unity is a sign of Christian maturity.   - Unity in the Church:  Ephesians 4:1-3   How we are to walk (conduct ourselves) as believers?   - with all humility and gentleness - with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love   Psalm 133:1. “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity.”   - unity = oneness     - Unity in the Godhead:  Ephesians 4:4-6   - One Spirit - One Lord - One God and Father     Adrian Rodgers quote:  “Unity is the desire of the Savior, the delight of the saved, and the dread of Satan.”   When we are unified we are on the winning team.
