  • If You Aren’t Getting the Results You Want, Try Changing Your Focus | Episode 120

Welcome to Gratitude Geek, the relationship marketing podcast helping micropreneurs find your micro-influencer magic. I’m your host, Kandas Rodarte and this week, I’m going to tell you a story.

My great grandfather, Shim Sang Kun, was a renowned Korean folk musician who toured the USA in the late 1940s as part of a troupe of traditional Korean musicians and dancers.

I’d heard stories about him from my mother and grandmother, but I did not have any details.

I’m a bit of a genealogy nerd and I managed to locate the obituary for Sang Kun on Newspapers.com. The obit indicated that he played at a very famous concert hall on the east coast in 1950.

Wanting more details, I reached out to Rob, the archivist for the concert hall, who went out of his way to research my great grandfather and his possible connection to the hall. Rob turned up a dead end but gave me a few leads that resulted in a flood of info on my family, including the fact that my great aunt is a feature story on Ancestry.com.

    Here’s what happened next:
