Missionary mentorship and on-the-job-training, while often neglected, can be a critical element of training and preparation for new and prospective missionaries. Short-term mission trips can be a great way to develop a burden for missions and can even be used facilitate the kind of mentorship and training that is invaluable to effective and long-lasting missionary service. These come into focus in this interview with Missionary Brad Barkowski. Bro. Brad has served in the island nation of Trinidad since 2015, but his exposure to that field of service and his training for ministering there began before his deployment as a supported missionary. If we're going to be effective in the work of missions we need local churches and local church pastors to work hand-in-hand with cross-cultural missionaries serving in foreign fields. Pastor Adam Thompson has a zeal for world missions and has been on both sides of this important partnership. He served in foreign missions for 15 years before assuming the pastorate of Capitol City Baptist Church back in 2009. In this interview, Pastor Thompson helps us to think through the relationship between the local church and the foreign field.

From the most populated country on earth, we've heard years of glowing reports of the unprecedented growth of Christianity alongside harrowing tales of repression and persecution. What are we to make of these popular presentations of the church in China? In part one, Greg relates how the Lord directed him to China, he assesses the condition of the Chinese church at large, and speaks to the strength and weaknesses of the underground house-church movement.
