Sermon by Pastor Corky Calhoun

Alright, can I tell you, I HATE Valentines Day. Now you need to know I am not cheap or even have an aversion to spoiling my wife. I just think it is ridiculous to set a single day aside to do what you ought to be doing all the time, which is expressing tangible love to others. Now I get it that without this day there are some who would never receive tangible signs of love, but seriously this absence of felt love seems like even more reason why the world needs Jesus. It's just my opinion that if you have Jesus then "Love" should be leaking out of you all the time and your spouse and children should be in the splash zone. As Christians "love" is what we do. Our Bible is God's love story with creation and if you haven't read the book (spoiler alert) love wins in the end. I think the issue is the world has made Love subjective and not objective. We have made it about feelings and emotions and not about commitment and action. Love as we see it in the world today seems to lack staying power and longevity. So I probably know more than most that we have done dozens of sermons on love over the years, but I am confident we have never looked at it from the view we will Sunday. So I hope you will join us and I also hope that you are loving the people God has placed in your life in a way that they can feel, long before next Wednesday!
