Welcome to Mental Health Monday! This is our first episode form a listener comment. Anthony is concerned about the increase in bullying at Armstrong High School. There have been a few prominent reports involving fights and the recent event with the crowd at a hockey game that have left a bad taste in many people's mouths. Today we'll explore where bullying comes from and some beginning steps for how to stop it. We hope you enjoy it and we would love to see your comments as well. We want to cover topics that you're most interested in so we can work towards a better future together.

A little over two years ago, we started a project with a goal in mind. That Kittanning would be recognized as one of the best small towns in America by the year 2027. A lot has happened in that time, so we're back to ask the question, how are we doing? If you have any questions after watching the podcast, please put them in the comments and we'll revisit it in a future episode.   If you haven't seen the original vision, check that video out here: https://youtu.be/OKs_K7uenfE Check out the podcast on all your favorite podcasting platforms!  Anchor: https://anchor.fm/greatestcityintheworldSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/03khqkTSnPH4nVWlFvYs79iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/greatest-city-in-the-world/Google: https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy9iMmM5MmE0L3BvZGNhc3QvcnNzAvailable on pretty much every other podcast platform as well. There's a special election coming up in our district and Andrew's campaign reached out to do an interview. I can't pass that up! Make sure to do a little homework on all of the candidates before next Tuesday and also be sure to study the referendums that are on the ballot. They are very important votes that will affect the future of our state.

Here are links to the 3 candidates Facebook pages:

One of the most glaring issues our community continues to face is the problem of opioid addiction. There are countless individuals who have been touched by this epidemic in some way and true solutions have been elusive. There is a new program that just began as an effort to reach the next generation and stop these issues before they start. I hope you enjoy learning about the SMART Choices program and will join me in praying that this will be a tool that will help to stop this issue in it's tracks. It's been a really long time since we've had a new podcast on the channel. Today, we're having a really interesting discussion with Adrian Zawada. He's originally from New York City, but has spent the last 15 years in Ukraine. He's now considering a move back to the U.S. and Kittanning has made his short list of places to visit and potentially move to. Our conversation ranged from life in a small town to how to deal with cultural trauma and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I was contacted by our regional census directors to see if I'd be willing to have them on the podcast. Normally, I'm not sure I'd be interested in all of that, but this year is different, so I was excited to be joined by Dr. Dwayne Lehman on the show. The 2020 census is a big deal for Kittanning and Armstrong County. There is a lot of funding that rides on this census along with the fact that many people will be able to make $17 an hour or more by helping to complete the census. It's a great opportunity for individuals and for our community as we move into this pivotal year. Thanks for listening!
