Although a themed collection like this might sound samey after a while
C.B. Potts knocks the daddy thing right out of the box with this collection of hot stories about older men. Although a themed collection like this might sound samey after a while, Potts changes things up frequently, and she has some very well imagined and interesting variations on her theme. If the settings are stereotypically male, i.e. Vietnam War, boxing arena, cowboys ânâ tenderfeet, Potts execution is never less than great. Even if you donât share this particular kink, you might just after reading these.
Just so good
I was a fan of C.B. Potts before this because of her story in Vincent Diamond's anthology, Animal Attractions, and Ms. Potts' Rock Hunters series. In my opinion, she's more than kept up the momentum here.
The collection consists of nineteen stories of inter-generational gay erotica, and within that group, there's intrigue, humor, obsession, and very frequently, extreme sexual heat. Those who like a bit of an edge to their erotica will definitely enjoy her stories "Emergency Room," "Crackhead Soup," and "Rough Road." On the other hand, there's some romance in "Where the Buffalo Roam" and "Mountain Music" which I'm sure many readers will also appreciate.
Ms. Potts shows off her immense talent and vast depth of creativity in stories such as "R&R" (which takes place behind enemy lines in the jungles of Viet Nam), "Hornbrook" (a beautifully-written historical piece) and my favorite, "Seducing the Hunter," which is related entirely through the dialogue of a seasoned writer who may be in over his head with the young man whose interest he has captured.
Overall, the collection is very inventive and many of the stories merit more than one re-reading. Very highly recommended.
Short but good
Well written short stories. Some are really short and leave you wanting more but that's a good sign in my opinion.
Cheap dates for old guys
I don't know what I was expecting when I was bought this book but I'm sorely disappointed in it. I saw it in a gay book shop in Boston not too long ago and the cover looked exciting and since I am a younger gay male who appreciates a more mature man I was intrigued. I was hoping for erotica stories with substance what I got was just boring cliche fantasies of old gay guys. The stories read for like plots for porn but only not that exciting.
