    Release date: 03-24-08
    Publisher: New Dimensions Foundation
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 12 votes
Genres: Self Development, Motivation & Inspiration
    Publisher's Summary:
We all want to "be somebody". But often, those who become somebody become statues, trapped in an identity that doesn't allow them to change or grow. Robert Fuller talks about his own struggle with being a nobody between periods of high recognition and status. He has learned to respect the "nobody" inside himself because "the nobody is actually the creative fellow, while the somebody is just the performer. When you're somebody that seems to become your core identity - but it's not; it's really just a set of clothes you wear for awhile". Fuller broadens the dialogue to encompass the rampant "rankism" in our culture, from politics to working life, to our basic family structure.

  • Right & Wrong Audiobook by Hugh Mackay
Please open https://hotaudiobook.com ONLY on your standard browser Safari, Chrome, Microsoft or Firefox to download full audiobooks of your choice for free.
    Title: Right & Wrong
Subtitle: How to Decide for Yourself
    Author: Hugh Mackay
    Narrator: Bud Tingwell
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 31 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-21-07
    Publisher: Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 4 votes
Genres: Self Development, Motivation & Inspiration
    Publisher's Summary:
In life, there are few, if any, moral absolutes for us to rely on, and facing an increasing array of choices, we often lack the confidence of knowing we have made the right choice. In Right & Wrong, respected social commentator Hugh Mackay suggests some personal strategies that will make it easier to work out what is right and wrong for each of us in a particular situation. In an engaging, conversational style, Mackay tackles the minefield of personal relationships, business ethics, morality and religion, the benefits of moral mindfulness, and the reasons why we should strive for a good life in which we are true to ourselves and sensitive to the wellbeing of others.
Hugh Mackay is a well known, highly regarded social commentator. Bud Tingwell lends his voice of age and wisdom to this well written, accessible, insightful book.
    Editorial Reviews:
Few of us are lucky enough to have lived a life fully free of qualms about right and wrong, a life in which moral and immoral choices are universally clear-cut and easily identifiable. With this in mind, Hugh Mackay has penned an engaging and accessible work intended to help listeners thoroughly examine the concepts of right and wrong and ultimately begin to define their own moral compasses.
Bud Tingwells authoritative performance adds a lot to this thoughtful and practical guide. His slightly stern voice communicates calmness and objectivity as he moves through the audiobook at a steady pace, grounding listeners as they attempt to puzzle out some of the greatest and most eternal questions of human nature and behavior.
    Members Reviews:
I am giving this four stars...
because the points made are excellent, and individual free will rational decision making is certainly a vital aspect of morality--but it is certainly not the only factor, and it certainly cannot function alone. (Mackay's insinuation that we can just turn our backs on immoral institutions and society ignores a very vital part of us, what Jonathan Haidt calls "hiveishness," the need for the approval of society, and our often unconscious willingness to bend our morality to fit in.) In fact, after reading this book (or before--I would not go so far as to say "instead of"), read Jonathan Haidt's The Righteous Mind: it is a much more realistic take on human morality. For instance, Haidt insists that we are 90% chimp (self-interested) and 10% bee (concerned with group approval), and while Haidt does not throw self-determination out the window, he does make an unpleasant truth clear: that we most often "decide" what our morality is by intuition and then make up logical (or, often enough, illogical) reasons to support our intuitive/emotional moral choice (often guided by what WE want to do!) The two books are complementary, I suppose, but do read Haidt to fill in the holes this book leaves in moral theory.

    Editorial Reviews:
In this program of the series Secrets of Being Unstoppable, by Guy Finley, the focus is on empowerment. With his usual combination of passion and compassion, Finley delves into the subject of self-governance. For those people who find themselves making excuses for the way things are, instead of actively changing them for the better; and for those who have a hard time believing that their particular fate and happiness are in their own hands, this audio is a must. Finley reveals how to take control of one's life, avoid falling into negative patterns of helplessness. With his strong, comforting voice, Finley guides listeners through steps by which to be proactive and self-supportive, and, ultimately, happy.

    Let Down
His 5 words could have been much more powerful without his overblown, over exaggerated examples. A couple examples were meaningful, but not well presented. Narrator spends 59 minutes to get to the point, which need not have taken more than 5 minutes. Uses a lot of hype & useless rhetoric to play up his points. Then when he makes his points, they are not what they were lead up to. Narrator also has a severe problem OVER ARTICULATING EACH AND EVERY WORD as if the listener is too stupid to understand the unnecessary use of his over abundance of 25 cent words. Reminded me of those arrogant holy rollers. Do not spend the money on this one.

Needs modification. See my review below
9June98 The CD AUDIO called "A Third Helping of Chicken Soup for the Soul". by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
    My comments:
I have several normal books of Chicken Soup and I very much enjoy them but this is my first experience of an audio CD with such material. I would definitely make the following suggestions:
    1. There should be some way to 'pause' the listening.
    2. There should be some way to select particular storys instead of being forced to listen for 70 minutes without any kind of break and being forced to listen to every single story repeated every time you listen to the CD.
    3. There should be a 'menu' that initially appears on your screen that allows you to pick the story or storys that you would like to hear again. Included with this menu would be the ability to pause while listening.
In today's world, who can listen for a 70 minute period without interruption? Possibly a hermit only. The phone, the FAX, the toilet etc. all constantly intrude on any 70 minute slice of your life.
Great material but the format of the CD cries out for the above modification. Because of the above omissions, I would highly recommend the book versions far above the CD versions.
Bertrand A. Lang Email - [email protected]
Would appreciate if Amazon would replace with the normal book version. It is next to useless in the current CD version.

    Ideal for first timers
I was expecting more from thiss audiobook but found that it contained a great deal of material from other sources and it lacked originality. The material is presented in an easy to digest manner with many examples, however I believe that the print version would be more appropriate as many of the exercises benefit from a step out (not a failing just with this book but a problem with many 'hands on' type audio books).
IMHO the exercises are the weakest part of the book and other books actually make a better attempt at enabling individuals to find their passion.
If you've never read any other books on the ssubject then this makess a good introduction although you may come away still looking for your passion.
A good effort but not quite there.
    Easy listen and great information.
This is well your time. The book has great insight and ideas. I will use it in my coaching practice and my own life.
