Practical and Useful Information

A good, practical guide for those wanting to downsize their environment, reduce their spending, and improve their quality of life. I would recommend this book as a good starting place. Regardless of your simplification goals, there is something in this book you can put to good use immediately, and much more that you can think about and try later. No fluff and pie in the sky, just practical, useful information. I will definitely want to read more of Kennedy's books.

Get back to the basics

I loved a paragraph in chapter 12 that said "The frugal mindset is one that embraces quality over quantity and value over time." Good book I would recommend it to others.

Over 40 you have to read this.

I cannot tell you how many people I have met who are stuck in the past. We do it this way we always do this way this is the way we do it. But Peter Fogel has given those people a blueprint of how to change. If you are having that midlife crisis and need to reinvent yourself, you MUST buy this book. It's interesting, it's well written and you'll thank me for telling you about it.

Funny, practical and inspirational advice on changing careers

An enlighteining discussion of what it means to make a middle life change in careers. I loved his honest and profound description of a comic's challenging job, and would probably have enjoyed it much more if I were an American, and knew all the places and people he mentions. Very intelligent, honest and funny!. Must read for people who are facing this challenge, and want inspiration and humor on the road

Worth reading and re-reading

If you want stories to tug at your heartstrings and to really experience how people overcome obstacles to reach their dream of career fulfillment, then read "if Not Now, Then When?" The author, Peter Fogel, knows how to weave an interesting tale from people's lives. Fun, encompassing book with practical advice for anyone who must make a true change in their lives. I just read it again and I loved it!

A great book for self reinvention

You gotta read this book, ...even better, listen to it. The narrator keeps you spellbound

while he tells the tales of all these boomers who switched careers and found

fulfillment. Sort of like Chicken Soup for the Soul but with loads of humor.

Peter captures the essence of a Kairos moment...the moment you have to push through for change.

Using humor and his real life experiences, Peter Fogel has written a book that is inspirational and motivating. He has applied his comedic talents to observe and comment on human nature. His book is timely as many of us, especially post 9/11, are seeking more meaningful work and life experiences.

Overcome Those Girly Thoughts

There are times when I feel too this or too that but as I've grown I've learned to love me. The assessments including throughout The Resilient Woman were wonderful tools to reflect on how your past influences the path of your present. Yet, it was Dr. O'Gorman's term "girly thoughts" that struck a cord with me most. She writes "what keeps us from using what we know to help us bounce back when we run headlong into adversity? I finally found a simple term for this liability: girly thoughts." The term girly thoughts reprises itself several times throughout the book as a term of weakness and vulnerability. Dr. O'Gorman offers suggestions to overcome our girly thoughts and those doubts of our strengths.

Highly recommended!

This new book by Bruce Rosenstein (who was on staff at USA Today for over 20 years) is a perfect introduction to the life, work, and philosophy of Peter Drucker. Drucker was a teacher, consultant, and management expert, but his visionary ideas are applicable to nearly any creative pursuit. Rosenstein has done a great job of encapsulating the teachings of the remarkable Drucker, and he has done so in a lively, very readable style that you will find immediately accessible. [Full disclosure: I have known Bruce for over 30 years, but I aver that my association with him does not in any way lessen or prejudice my enthusiasm for this book.]

Great book, even for the layman

I was very impressed with how author Bruce Rosenstein was able to distill and translate the vast body of work that Peter Drucker had compiled over his storied and long career, but what most impressed me was how this is a book for everyone; a book that, no matter what one does for a living, will give the reader fresh perspectives on how to live a fuller, more well-balanced life. A VERY readable book that is not overly long (something we can all appreciate) and presented in a clear way that is deceptively simple, yet deals with complex, profound issues. Highly recommended.
