Critic Reviews:
"
The Power of Vow thoroughly addresses and dissects a powerful practice much needed in Western Buddhist and 12 Step circles. It's a tool for mindfulness, for turning it over, and for developing humility and forgiveness. Read it, do it!" (Kevin Griffin, Author of
One Breath at a Time and Burning Desire: Dharma, God and the Path of Recovery)
"In Darren Littlejohn's new book,
The Power of Vow, he writes, We're all addicts in a sense. We're all attached, if not addicted, to our possessions, careers, relationships, identities,' and from my own personal experience in this thing called life, I couldn't relate more.
The Power of Vow provides readers with a concise blueprint of how to begin breaking these attachments and addictions through... you guessed it, the power of vow. I recommend this book for anyone who happens to find themselves in a human incarnation this time around." (Chris Grosso Author of
Indie Spiritualist Beyond Words - Atria Books 2014)
"An inspiring book: accessible and complex at the same time. I like Darren Littlejohn's integral and practical approach." (Martine Batchelor, meditation teacher and author of
Let Go: A Buddhist Guide to Breaking Free of Habits)

The Constant Healer
Darren Littlejohn's new book is every bit as good as his first ("The 12-Step Buddhist: Enhance Recovery from Any Addiction") and second ("Perfect Practice: How Everyone Can Use Buddhist and Recovery Tools for Greater Happiness"). He speaks with the voice of a kind teacher, helping each of us to find a path to peace.
I met Darren shortly after he restarted his recovery in 1997, and have had the pleasure of seeing him evolve into the amazing teacher/healer that he continues to become. (Full disclosure: I am not Darren's teacher or student, sponsor or sponsee, nor even an especially close friend. I've just been fortunate enough to know him during this phase of his life.) Like many of us who are healing, Darren knows the harsh realities and ecstatic joys of passing through the flames and coming out the other side. And more than anything, Darren does know how to find a path back to true peace. I am thankful that Darren has taken the time to put his thoughts into his books and blogs.
Thank you, Darren!
An excellent read, well worth your time.
I enjoyed this book very much. The author's writing style is clear, strong, and forward thinking. He's presenting the real possibility of combining various elements of Buddhism, 12 Step, and so on, into a sort of cohesive path along one's journey through sobriety. I really appreciate this very much. Quite beautiful, indeed.
