What Preston Wants

A sweet story about a little boy eager to grow-up. The primary value of the story is that all children long for the time when they will grow taller, and be able to do things that as little ones they could not do. Preston's story gives each child confidence he/she will eventually reach this milestone.

Five Stars

Great book for children! Cute illustrations, too!

Title: Good Grief! It's Winter!

Author: Nancy Orlando

Narrator: Nancy Orlando

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 mins

Language: English

Release date: 10-02-12

Publisher: Tate Publishing

Genres: Kids, Ages 5-7

Publisher's Summary:

Nancy Orlando was born in Galion, a wonderful small town in Northern Ohio, in 1934. My love of words started very early in life. I dreamed of becoming a writer and spent hours searching for just the right words to describe the wonder and awe in the world around me. I attended Ohio State until I left school to marry and start a family. I managed to complete the first course with the Childrens Institute while raising three children. I was in my 70s before I finally made my dream become a reality by completing my first book. Everyones Child is a memoir of my childhood during WWII. The book follows the timeline of the war creating a social history of daily life in America during the war years. I keep my life as full as possible. I write every day, maintaining at least two writing projects at all times. I find I am more productive when I demand more of myself. I take piano lessons and anxiously wait for spring each year to get into my garden. I also try very hard to learn all about these infernal electronic monsters. I find them both a blessing and a curse, which depends on the moment you ask! Aside from my electronic dilemmas, life is a joy and I look forward to every tomorrow.

Debbi KernI was raised in the Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. My family always had pets - cats, dogs, fish, even a parakeet named Zubedo who would climb up your fingers and give you bird-kisses on your cheek. (Its no wonder Im an animal lover.) For several years I was the artist for the American Bear Association in Orr, Mn. which provided me the unique opportunity to meet and draw black bears up close and personal! The form of art I prefer over all others is pen & inkthe black and white process used to illustrate this book. Ive spent a lot of time drawing pets in pen & inkI think Ive drawn about every breed of dog imaginable. It seems, however that ever since Nancy Orlando asked me to illustrate her first childrens book, A Garden! A Garden! all Ive been doing is illustrating childrens books. (Its been great.) In addition to Nancys two books, Ive also illustrated The Little Red Frog by Noele Williams. Im a retired art teacher, having taught 30 years at Amelia Elementary - just east of Cincinnati, Ohio. I loved teaching art, and still do art projects with the youngsters in my life (and some not so young.) Currently I live in New Richmond, Ohio with my husband Karl and our 4 cats; Sammie, A2, Mistoffolees, and Bobbi.

Great purchase

Bought this book for my nephew for Christmas this year, who incidentally had a pug with one eye (what are the chances?). These are great books. They're age appropriate, and they always communicate a good message while sticking to the story. This is the third one I've bought, and I am planning on buying them all. Please write more Sharron, I'll buy them!

NIKI MY ONE EYED PUG

One of my pugs had to have an eye removed & Poppie makes me smile & think about her. Love you Niki Angel!

Fascinated

This might be a children's book but it surely kept my attention. The stories are delightful and fascinating. The facts about each country, informational even for an adult. I highly recommend this book if you want to instill in your children a love for travel and an interest in other cultures and traditions. This book is a valuable treasure and a worthwhile purchase! Your children will want to read and reread it.

New countries, new cultures

First off, the illustrations are warm and eye catching to children

and offer a nice break from the over animation seen on TV.

Secondly, the book is a wonderful way to introduce any child to the quilt

of European nations and cultures in this more and more intertwined world.

These types of books can make a great cross over to a movie.

M.P.

My 3 yo loved it!

My daughter loved the story and the hand drawn illustrations. I appreciate both of these and that proceeds will help feed an American Girl habit of a girl who is industrious enough to try and earn it herself.
