  • E31: GRATITUDESPACE INTERVIEW
E31: GRATITUDE EVERYDAY INTERVIEW I was contacted a few weeks ago by Chris, who started gratitudespace.com asking if I was interested in doing an interview about how “Gratitude Everyday” was started. Their goal is to “initiate gratitude into a network of over 10,000,000 people by the end of 2017” and I jumped at the opportunity.
    .
My whole point of creating this platform was to create a community where people are inspired to find at least one thing every day that they are grateful for and to go into their communities and live their gratitudes out! It was really neat to see this article go live a few days ago and I finally shared it on Facebook for my friends to see what I had been working on. I’d enjoyed keeping it “quiet” and no one knew that I was the one creating this because I wanted people to follow the account because they believed in the message of gratitude. I had a few people write me and say that they followed the page because they liked the

  • E30: THE BEST IS YET TO COME
E30: THE BEST IS YET TO COME
I’ve seen a lot of motivational posts on Instagram in the past few weeks along the lines of “2018 is going to be my year!” and I feel like when we start focusing on the year ahead it can be easy to lose sight of the 27 days we have left in 2017.
    .
I’m looking forward to 2018, as I feel like I have built a lot of momentum this year and have a lot of good things going for me, yet I have some pretty big goals for 2018, but I want to make sure that I finish 2017 with purpose. There is so much opportunity left for us in this year.
    .
There are 27 days left in this year for you to encourage others, make a difference in your community, and live your gratitudes out.

  • E29: CHOOSE HAPPY
E29: CHOOSE HAPPY • Choose Happy. Saturday mornings are a great time of reflection for me. They usually involve a later wake up time, a workout, and a good breakfast, but I tend to move a little slower not having to rush off to work.
    .
This morning I woke up with two things on my mind:
    1. I have the opportunity to choose to be happy today, or not.
    2. I am looking forward to the day ahead and I’m going to be super productive!
    .
I’m not going to be overwhelmed by the amount of housework I have to do, the amount of work I have to do for “Gratitude Everyday”, or “The How-To Scholar”, or the huge pile of marking I need to do.
    .
I stay focused and upbeat by using something called the “Pomodoro Technique”. It is where you work for 25 minutes, and then take a 5 min break. After four cycles of this, you take a 15-30 minute break. This allows me to be very purposeful with my time, while giving my body and mind the breaks it needs. Download the app cal

  • E28: THANKFUL + HAPPY PEOPLE
E28: THANKFUL PEOPLE ARE HAPPY PEOPLE
“It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.”
    .
I will always remember my grandfather pointing out a gentleman going through the trash in our town, but probably for a reason you wouldn’t expect. This man dressed plainly and drove an old, beat-up truck and he was looking for bottles to recycle for money. My grandfather told me that the man was probably one of the few millionaires in our town and I never anticipated hearing that. He lived a very simple life, despite his wealth and opportunity. I have no clue how happy this guy was, but it struck me that he could essentially do anything he wanted, yet he was rummaging through the smelly trash for 10 cents a bottle.
    .
We all have different life experiences. A lot of people tend to equate happiness with the amount of money in your bank account, or how “successful” you are, but I think it comes from the ability to recognize what blessings we hav

  • E27: BE AN ENCOURAGER
E27: BE AN ENCOURAGER I don’t know why, but last Friday night I felt like I should send some messages of encouragement to a few people. Some of them I knew, some of them I want to know better, and for some of them it was my first interaction with them. Like I said before, I don’t know why I felt like I needed to do this, but I’m very glad I did.
    .
Some of the responses I got back were “Thank you!”, “I needed to hear that.”, “This has put the biggest smile on my face!” and others. Some saw the message and didn’t respond and some people never got it.
    .
I think that encouragement can be extremely powerful. In my life, I’ve hugely benefited from it. There are many times that I’ve been encouraged by others and I’m grateful for those moments. Now, I find myself looking for opportunities to encourage others.
    .
I also think that “encouraging” is a gift that some people have been blessed with. I’m sure that we can a

Thankfully, I am lucky enough to have my weekends off. I usually have other projects or commitments that I have to wake up early for in Saturday anyway, but the last few weeks I've been able to turn my alarm clock off and sleep in. I've been able to sleep in longer and get caught up on my sleep, which is something I need to do more regularly, but I'm grateful for restful Saturdays.
    .
Today, I am going on a short trip, so the podcasts will be a slightly different format. No intro/outro music, just jumping into gratitude, right away.

I encourage you to give some of our podcasts a listen!

E24: SAYING THANK YOU IS EASY **Check out the new Gratitude Everyday Podcast by clicking the link in our account bio**
    .
I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to say “thank you”. It’s two words, two syllables, and takes one second to say it. I don’t think that sometimes we realize how powerful a simple “thank you” can be. You never know what the person on the receiving end of your message is going through and how it will affect them.
    .
I hope that today’s message encourages you to say “thank you”. Whether that’s using words or by actions. It’s easy, and gets easier the more you do it.

Today is day 100 of Gratitude Everyday. I’m pumped that we haven’t missed a day because I really believe in the message. We all have things to be grateful for in our lives, but we sometimes need a reminder.
    .
Today’s message is simply one of thanks to you: the follower, the podcast listener, the people who like and comment on our post, and those who take the message we’re promoting and go out and make a difference in the world.

Please know that your support is greatly appreciated and it motivates me to keep fighting the good fight.
