Climate skepticism - a subjective understanding of the objective problem
There is no extreme political and media talk in Bulgaria about the existence and absence of climate change. On the one hand, the reason is in the inherent distrust of the Bulgarian towards politicians, science and institutions. On the other hand, because of the objective reality on which other everyday problems are at stake and because Bulgaria generates less carbon emissions due to deindustrialization over the last three decades. Prolonged global talk, the lack of consensus between major countries and the remoteness of the problem in time and space are the other factors influencing the formation of rather passive denial by ordinary people. However, this skepticism is not enough to accumulate an energy of its own that would drive active civil or political movements. For scientists, thought is not so much about denying the changes themselves as in nuances in understanding processes, speed, the intensity and place where they occur.

The story allows a choice of options from the main menu, and the answers of the participants are about the reforms in educational system, they point out a specific lack of environmental culture, and ignore the politicians as a factor for change due to the lack of communication.
Despite the situation, young people remain concerned about the world into which the next generation will be born, which will continue to deteriorate. They are basically ready to bite into this sour apple and direct all social action to build a more solidary and fair way for society to operate for all generations.
Many young people do not trust politicians at all, because they do not see a change, says Hristiana Slavova. Many politicians want change, but they are pushing it from the top down. Change could be achieved, when talking about the Green Deal, even the political and social part of our lives, only from the bottom up. This is the possibility for growth of a new generation of voters and figures in a society that will move it. Not politics, but society drives our lives.
According to the experts, this process of individualization does not mean the young people do not care about society, but it means that they will be able to express support for an individual idea, individual problem and so on in an individual way.
Participants: Master`s students at the Sofia University: Hristiana Slavova, English Philology; Kalin Stoev, Modern Greek Philology; Maria-Antoaneta Vangelova, History and Geopolitics of the Balkans; Angela Popovska, Balkan Studies; Valchan Valchanov, Professor of French at the Sofia University and Founder of the group of vocal music "Lingvacord" at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology.

Sharing economy: new opportunities and efficient use of resources
From libraries, one of the first forms of the shared economy, to modern forms such as sites and groups on social networks for buying and selling or renting, the shared economy continues to grow and enter our daily lives. Sharing economy aims to use assets and resources more efficiently, allows everyone to benefit from what they have, and emphasizes trust in relationships.
Sharing economy is not a new phenomenon. What is new is that more and more elements of a shared economy are around us. People take the opportunity to share resources in one form or another - Uber, Airbnb, car rental, social networking groups for sales and exchanges, mobile applications and others, to which they have faster and easier access.
"The development of shared economy is largely due to the lack of regulations. This makes the process appealing, but on the other hand there is a need for regulations... When society is richer, then the forms of sharing economy are smaller. Crises intensify the process, lead to more economical use of resources", stated Veselin Iliev from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce.
Transport is one of the more developed areas of shared economy in our country. An example of this is the Facebook group "Travelers Vidin - Sofia (Sofia - Vidin), which was founded several years ago by Miroslav Djokanov from Vidin. Shared travel is more environmentally friendly and has a financial effect, because it reduces costs. Another of his ideas is the development of a module for the digital platform shkolo.bg, which offers connection for students with private teachers from all over the country.
Miroslav Lyudmilov from Vidin, who studies and works in Sofia, shares how young people are taking advantage of the forms of a shared economy in a time of social and economic crisis. According to him, the sharing of housing, travel, as well as the use of holiday platforms, have not only financial benefits, but also provide new opportunities for young people.
Society will gain more if things are shared, because people will not lose valuable resources. Sharing economy is good for the planet, because of climate change and environmental care.

Climate Anxiety – mission impossible for Bulgaria
Climate anxiety is a mission impossible in Bulgaria. Although there is a registered interest, Bulgaria is among the countries where young people are not interested in this topic and do not feel worried. Statistics provided by Nikolay Petkov – a member of the environmental association "For the Earth", shows no interest in the climate anxiety topic. Petkov was a participant in the protests „Fridays for future“, organized by Greta Thunberg. In a Facebook poll, conducted by the Bulgarian organization, only 23 students took part. The poll reveals that 90% of them had heard about the climate at school. But only 25 percent about the climate anxiety topic. "Exactly 6 people," says Nikolay Petkov. "Which is sad. It's hard for me to answer why this is so. Maybe it is typical for Bulgaria, for our region. We just have other problems in Bulgaria; the group that has the greatest interest in these issues are girls and women between 35-40 years of age. Penka Ivanova is a teacher in the ecology school "Sunbeam" in Plovdiv. She observes a certain "sensitivity to eco-themes" in her students. "They really start to see more and more around them, when there is an environmental problem. They share.“, she saуs. Penka Ivanova explains the lack of depth on the topic of climate anxiety in Bulgaria with the lack of will. Few people would risk "a lot of things around them and from work to expose uncomfortable issues for society."

The shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic has been looming over the world for over two years, and perhaps every aspect of our lives has been changed by the virus. Shocked by daily statistics of illness and death, the entire global community is focusing its efforts on saving lives and preventing infection. The stressful situation prompted us to spare no expense in dealing with the health problem. Alas, two years later, the result is calamitous - we went years backwards in our attempts to limit the use of single-use plastics. From personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves to disinfectant bottles, syringes, and vaccine waste, to the widespread use of disposable cutlery, utensils, and packaging to deliver food from closed restaurants and educational institutions, the mountains of plastic we rised in fear of the sudden threat will remain on Earth for at least half a millennium to remind us that crisis management should not make the environment bear this expense.
Are we too late with waste management measures past Covid-19, could we find more sustainable solutions for the future without compromising safety - this is what we discuss with Eleonora Yosifova from the eco organization "For the Earth" and Assoc. prof Mihail Okoliyski from the Bulgarian office of the World Health Organization. Would it be possible in a pandemic situation to restrict single-use plastic food packaging in educational establishments? And how high school students in Yambol got involved in the search for solutions to the plastic pandemic by inventing biodegradable protective masks. Find out more in this episode.
