Capitalism has been around for a long time in Indonesia. The most influential companies among Indonesia’s youth seem to be large corporations, most of which operate on a capitalist foundation and exploit the environment as well as their workers. Shopping sustainably is still seen as the less favourable choice, especially when these large brands sell their products at a much lower price. However, there is the belief that as consumers, we are able to influence these companies through “ethical consumption”.
