Surf Air Mobility (NYSE: SRFM), the largest commuter airline in the U.S., has announced a partnership with REGENT to establish a seaglider operations base in Miami. With plans to be operational as early as 2027, this facility will cater to passenger transport services for South Florida.
This region is host to nine million passengers traveling annually via commercial air, rail, and roadways. Surf Air says that the new Miami-based seaglider operations will have the potential to serve up to 1.5 million passengers annually, connecting travelers between coastal destinations and serving as a link to major transportation hubs like Miami International Airport and PortMiami.
Surf Air Mobility is poised to accelerate the adoption of innovative vehicles like the REGENT seaglider by utilizing its existing passenger base, operator relationships, and industry connections. Seagliders combine aircraft speed with boat-like convenience, exclusively operating over water and using existing dock infrastructure for transportation up to 180 miles, powered by current battery technology.
Stan Little, CEO of Surf Air Mobility stated: “By leveraging our platform at Surf Air to bring new, electrified transportation to market, we believe REGENT seagliders can unlock new routes along Florida’s coastal corridors that complement our existing service networks and further our commitment to operating an electrified fleet.”
Surf Air Mobility is a Los Angeles-based regional air mobility platform expanding the category of regional air travel to reinvent flying through the power of electrification.
