A new generation of highly immersive VR platforms has emerged with the aim of helping us save thousands of tons of CO2 for conference travel in the future. The Dutch startup BeemUp is an example for that. In our podcast episode, we explain why ideas like BeemUp could in fact be more effective in preventing people from long conference trips than traditional video-call tools currently are.

"Beemup’s mission is to reduce CO2 emissions by offering an alternative to conferences, events and lectures. With our platform we want to become a stepping stone in transforming the highly emissive industrial world into a sustainable and connected virtual world."

Persuasive technology is broadly defined as technology that is designed to change attitudes or behaviors of the users through persuasion and social influence, but not through coercion. Most self-identified persuasive technology research focuses on interactive, computational technologies, including desktop computers, Internet services, video games, and mobile devices, The design of persuasive technologies can be seen as a particular case of design with intent.
