How does the human species deal with all the psychological stresses of life and the emotional challenges that seem to be so predominant in our increasingly frenzied, financially dominated world? The need to be healthy, whole and well resourced, with cohesive family and community ties, having inner balance at the core of our being, is an imperative.
Delaine's training in re-evaluation counselling has prepared her for identifying patterns of behaviour which people often mistake for personality, and which are the culprits behind most depressions, addictions and even ways of coping with anger, grief and other emotional reactions that people can't control.
With increasing depression, anxiety disorders and suicide the need for compassion, conflict resolution, anger management and intelligent communication skills are essential to pull the strands of our family, society and ultimately our civilization into a more coherent whole.

From the archives: Jeanette Fitzsimons is one of New Zealand's most high-profile environmentalists and has been Co-leader of the Green Party since 1995. For the last 12 years Jeanette has seen the Greens raise issues and points of view never before heard in parliamentary debate in this country. In many ways they have changed the law, and are starting to change hearts and minds. Eventually the paradigm will change.
"Being Green is certainly not about forcing your lifestyle onto others," says Jeanette. "It's showing how it is possible to live a rich, fulfilling lifestyle with less impact on nature."

From the archives: Jon Carapiet is national spokesperson for GE Free NZ (in food and environment); a market researcher and leading advocate for 'Brand New Zealand'; a writer, commentator and artist-photographer.
Jon has been a leader in the GE debate since 1998 and was inspired to get involved in the issue because of the wide-ranging implications of genetic engineering becoming commercialised around the world.
"My commercial experience helps give me a perspective on many of the Green issues that the business world is only now waking up to." says Jon. "The potential for business to do harm or alternatively, be part of the solution is a key issue facing us all."
Jon has drawn on his expertise in Branding to argue for an 'ethical biotechnology and science strategy' for New Zealand that respects community values, and the country's international reputation.
"The Buy-Kiwi made campaign and keeping New Zealand's food and environment GE-free are just two elements among many that can contribute to sustainable social and economic development for 'brand New Zealand'. The Green Party is a voice for a middle-path that those who are purely money-driven and short-sighted must heed."

From the archives: James Samuel of Waiheke island, is assisting in the coordination of a country wide movement called Transition Towns. James has been looking at the issue of localised sustainability within a small community.
What is a Transition Town? Transition Town initiatives are bringing people together out of a desire to explore how we - and our communities - can respond to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil. He states he doesn't have all the answers but believes the growing groups are very innovative and can create the required solutions.
Each transition group networks with people engaging in a coordinated range of projects designed to transition from high energy to low energy lifestyles in the most creative manner. Their aim is to re-localise our communities making them vibrant, resilient and truly sustainable.
Though not envisioned, this could also be key in emergencies, as in earthquakes volcanoes etc.

Stunning new scientific discoveries about the biochemical effects of the brain's functioning show that all the cells of your body are affected by your thoughts. Dr Bruce Lipton, a renowned cell biologist, describes the precise molecular pathways through which this occurs.
His research at Stanford University's School of Medicine, revealed that the environment, operating though the membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries, which run counter to the established scientific view that life is controlled by the genes, presaged one of today's most important fields of study, the science of epigenetics.
With recommendations from Joseph Chilten Pearce the Author of Crack in the Cosmic Egg and the Magical Child, Karl Pribram Professor Emeritus, at Stanford, with his theory that memory may be stored in our brain as if in a hologram, and Ralph Abrahams, Ph.D professor of Mathematics, University of California, Santa Cruz, Author of Foundations of Mechanics: Dynamics, the Geometry of Behavior and Chaos, Gaia, Eros. Who states...
"In this paradigm-busting book, Bruce Lipton delivers a TKO to Old Biology. With a left to Darwinian dogma and a right to allopathic medicine, he breaks out of the physicalist box into enlightenment on the mind/body (belief/biology) system. Must read, much fun."

Just like the micro flora in our gut and digestive system, when we are free of chemical additives, everything flourishes and comes back into balance.
Graeme will be in Auckland on Friday the 27th at Earthsong in Waitakere and on Waiheke Island, Saturday the 28th sharing with us his extensive knowledge on the link between soil, health and nutrition.
