The Premier League is finally back, so it’s time to put the predictions on record.
Thom is joined by James, Grant, Jordan and Chris at the Oyster Catcher in Greenwich, starting with Arsenal’s 3–0 Community Shield win over Manchester City. Arsenal looked ready for the season; City looked anything but. Was it simply a difference in preparation, or were there signs of a much bigger problem?
There’s also PSG’s 2–1 Super Cup win over Aston Villa, and whether an impressive Villa performance should actually change expectations for them heading into the league campaign.
Then comes the dangerous bit: the **GFP Premier League prediction table**.
Everyone submitted their own 1–20 before recording, so we work through the league club by club, compare the biggest disagreements and settle on the table we’ll be dragging back out at the end of the season. No retrospective editing permitted.
We also make our calls for Manager of the Season, Player of the Season, breakthrough player, biggest flop, surprise package and Golden Boot, before finishing with the opening weekend and the games we think could immediately make some of these predictions look stupid.
Recorded at the **Oyster Catcher, Greenwich**, with the river outside and several increasingly questionable league tables inside.
