You can look completely fine on the outside and be drowning underneath. Most of us have gotten really good at it.

This week, Ty opens up about being the “good church kid” — worship team, FCA Bible studies, verses memorized — while hiding sin the entire time from 6th grade through graduation. Not because the sin was unusual, but because hiding is what we all do. And underneath the hiding is a lie most church kids believe without ever saying it out loud: that God is waiting to see how you turn out before He decides how He feels about you.

We look at Zechariah 3, where a guilty man stands before God in filthy clothes with Satan pointing at him — and God shuts the accuser down. We talk about the difference between shame and conviction, why “God already knows” only sounds like a threat if you think His love depends on your performance, and what it means that every sin you’d ever commit was already in front of Jesus when He chose the cross anyway.

The whole night lands on one sentence: you don’t get clean and then come to God. You come to God, and He does the cleaning.

Jesus Loves Me — Week 1: JESUS Fuse MSM Wednesday Night Series

You’ve sung it since before you could talk. But have you actually heard it?

We’re kicking off a five-week series digging into the childhood song “Jesus Loves Me” — a song that started as comfort sung to a dying boy in an 1860s novel, and somehow became so familiar it stopped meaning anything to most of us. This week, we go back to where the song’s most famous line comes from: John 3:16.

We look at Nicodemus, a religious leader who knew Scripture inside and out and still completely missed who was standing in front of him. We ask a hard question: who do you actually believe God loves — and how would you expect a God like that to show it? And we land on the most backwards, upside-down truth in the whole Bible: God didn’t show up the way anyone would guess. He showed up as Jesus — poor, unimpressive, and willing to die for people who wanted nothing to do with Him.
