On this episode, Che'lyn has a conversation with friend and Soror, Cheryl Chew-Render. Cheryl is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. She is also a proud HBCU alumnus of Clark Atlanta University and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Cheryl shares her very difficult, complex journey through grief and loss as it relates to her younger sister Donna, who courageously fought a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Cheryl shares fond memories of Donna and her spirit of resilience and recounts their last days together. Cheryl also shares how the deaths of her sister, brother and recently her father have impacted her and strengthened her faith in God and has given her more perspective on the fragility of life and a strong sense of gratitude for her life, health, relationships,sisterhood, the community she serves and honoring her family legacy.
