Grief and Loss

Listen Later

According to best-selling author and shame researcher, Brene Brown:

“In my research, three foundational elements of grief emerged from the data: loss, longing, and feeling lost.”

“While death and separation are tangible losses associated with grief… (some losses) are more difficult to identify or describe… the loss of normality, the loss of what could be, and the loss of what we thought we knew or understood about something or someone.”

Atlas of the Heart

I invite you to consider these questions:

  • When have you experienced a loss in the form of a death?
  • When have you experienced a loss in the form of a separation from a loved one?
  • When have you grieved losing your “old normal”?
  • When have you grieved the loss of an expectation or dream?
  • When have you grieved the loss of a perception you had of something or someone?
  •
