In this week's episode I chat with one of my favourite humans in the world, Leanne.

 Leanne and I engage in a candid conversation about grief, exploring the complexities of losing a parent at a young age. Leanne shares her personal experience of losing her mother when she was just a few months old, discussing the challenges of growing up without that maternal figure and the societal pressures surrounding grief. I talk honestly about how hard it can be to navigate grief, especially during tough months like January, and why having community and connection has been so important for me. I reflect on how grief shifts and changes over time, how complicated it can feel, and how much we all need safe spaces to talk about loss. More than anything, I want to encourage you to let yourself feel what you feel and find comfort in shared experiences — because none of us have to do this alone

In this heartfelt episode of Greif Is My New Hobby, Gary & I reflect on grief and remember our dad on what would have been his 67th birthday(21st Jan). We share how we’ve been coping with loss, especially around the festive season, and how we wish we had more time. 

We reminisce about our dad, uncover meaningful memories, and reflect on the love our parents shared. Gary & I also laugh a lot about some of our favourite memories, why we think our Dad was the best one ever and why it's such a compliment to be compared to him. 

This episode is both a tribute to our dad and a reminder to cherish memories, talk openly about loss, and support one another through hard times.

In the final episode of season 2, I reflect on the complexities of experiencing grief during the festive season, particularly around Christmas. I'll share personal anecdotes about my own experiences with loss, especially the absence of my dad, my mum being the magic maker and I discuss the emotional challenges that arise during this time of year.

 I will try to offer practical coping strategies and insights from the pod followers on how to navigate grief during the holidays, emphasizing the importance of self-compassion and honouring memories. I also touches on the significance of community support and the need to prioritize one's own emotional well-being as the new year approaches.

In this deeply heartfelt episode of Grief Is My New Hobby, Jen opens up about the unimaginable pain of losing her baby girl, Scarlett, at just three months old, right before Christmas. While grieving the loss of her daughter, Jen was also navigating life as a mother to twins, trying to stay grounded for them as her world shifted beneath her feet. 

Six months later, Jen found herself pregnant again with her baby boy, a new chapter filled with love, hope, and its own unique complexities. She shares how grief has not been a linear journey, but one that comes in waves, teaching her to hold space for sorrow and joy at the same time.
