Have you ever heard someone say...
"Time heals all wounds."
"Everything happens for a reason."
"At least they're no longer suffering."
"You just need closure."
After losing my son, I realized many of the things people say about grief aren't comforting—they're simply myths that can make grieving people feel even more alone.
In this episode of Grief Loss & Life, I'm sharing 10 grief myths I don't believe anymore after living through profound loss. These aren't opinions from a textbook. They're lessons learned from years of surviving child loss, supporting thousands of grieving parents, and discovering that grief rarely follows the rules society expects.
Whether you've lost a child, spouse, parent, sibling, friend, or someone else you love, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not grieving wrong.
In this episode we discuss:
✔ Why time doesn't magically heal grief
✔ Why closure isn't necessary for healing
✔ Why "moving on" isn't the goal
✔ Why grief doesn't happen in predictable stages
✔ Why healing and forgetting are completely different things
✔ Why being strong all the time is exhausting
✔ Why grief changes your identity
✔ Why your timeline doesn't have to match anyone else's
✔ Why joy and sadness can exist together
✔ What I wish every grieving person knew
Grief changes us.
It changes our relationships.
It changes our priorities.
It changes how we see the future.
But that doesn't mean there's something wrong with you.
If you've ever felt guilty because your grief doesn't look like everyone else's...this episode is for you.
