The NBA is one of the fan favorite leagues due to its interesting personalities, explosive highlights and competitive nature, but even a league like that has its faults. There are issues in practically every level of the NBA when people look close enough. Whether its issues with the players, the fans, or the organization of the league itself, there is plenty to go over. With the help of a special guest, Matthew Moon, who studies sports science at IU, the two hosts cover concepts like bandwagon fans, load management/season length and the draft lottery. With so many issues, there’s a lot to grind our gears.

To kick things off in the series, the host discuss one of sports constantly filled with frustration. The NFL has had issues with referee, political stances, free agency discussions and a new CBA for years now. Both hosts break down how season awards, game officiating, stubborn rookies, and the new CBA are all upsetting to dedicated fans.

The college football landscape has seen a lot of changes throughout this season, and this episode begins with the newest addition to the top 25 rankings: The Indiana Hoosiers. Moving on, the two hosts debate which of the top two teams in the nation should truly be ranked number one after all that they’ve accomplished this season. For the third segment, there is a brief breakdown of some conference rivalries in the week to come, which leads into a discussion of some playoff contenders. In this pilot episode of Smack Talk, we jump right into a college football season already in swing. With Indiana football experiencing a bye week, there isn’t too much for conversation on that subject. Instead, we briefly discuss the team’s impressive previous matchup against Michigan State in East Lansing and what to anticipate with the schedule of games to come. After a few weeks of play behind every team, certain squads have separated themselves as elite and others are proving to be struggling more than anticipated. We break down how certain teams stand currently in the Big Ten, and share our own thoughts on what’s wrong with a current power ranking of the conference. Moving outside of the Big Ten, the two of us share our own personal opinions on teams that has impressed each of us, and discuss what makes these particular groups special opposed to other
squads. Finally, looking towards the future, we discuss the race for a spot in the College Football Playoffs. With a tight race heating up in the SEC and certain teams building an impressive resume, who’s going to make the cut? Who’s going to be this year’s team that gets snubbed a spot?
