Today I interview 12 very bright 5th grade students along with their teacher sponsor, Mrs. Wackerly, from Sunflower Elementary School in Andover, KS.
This group is very special to me because our son was asked to be part of this club and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the kids and their parents. Do you think your kids school could learn from this club's hard work? Take a listen and leave your comments!

3:10 Meet Joelle, Molly, Kenleigh, and Reese
7:32 Meet Gavin, Creighton, Dylan, and Auggie
13:56 Meet Maddie, Alice, Ryan, and Christopher
Mrs. Wackerly Questions:
How did the entrepreneur club start?
Who did you speak with in Andover school district or to school to get the ball rolling?
How did you select the kids for your pilot program year?
Kids Questions:
Were you more drawn to the business side or the creative side of the process (did ya like the money or creating t-shirts and logos)?
What has been the most rewarding part of creating the business? (talking to friends in the morning, being a leader, taking money to Ronald McDonald house...)
How do you like being a leader at your school? Do you think others watch how you act and look up to you?

The "hard" emotions are the ones you have to make a plan with deadlines, set up parameters and just do the work to get through the messy!
Believe you me I deal with a lot of "hard" emotions every 2 years. We move all the time and this can be overwhelming, stressful, filled with sadness and so many other emotions lurking in the shadows.
I have heard... "You can do hard things" playing on repeat in my head... and that is not what motivates me. I want to come unglued when I hear this phrase actually. I know I can do hard things, but I have to WANT to overcome these hurdles to make it happen.
Join me as I share some of my tips and tricks to dealing with the hard and uncomfortable.
Bonus points if you leave me a comment on how you deal with them!

Meet Melissa: With an eye for style and a heart for gracious hospitality, Melissa loves creating beautiful candles that can transform your space with a simple, yet elegant touch. Melissa uses her unique process of hand-gold leafing and hand-pouring her candles to create luxurious, fragrant, and clean-burning candles that fill your home with a warm glow.
Launching a line of candles was never really in Melissa’s plans. She’s learned over the years; however, that the best things in life aren’t always the ones in which you’ve planned. Since 2012, candle-making had been her hobby and creative outlet. Through local and regional pop-up shops and markets, the popularity of her candles grew, and so did her love for the working in the creative, maker community in the South. As her collections became more popular, particularly her gold-leaf collections, she officially launched Melissa Warnke Candles in 2020.
A native of Cullman, Alabama, she graduated from Auburn University and has lived in Montgomery since 2010. She has two daughters, ages 4 and 6, is an avid tennis player, and works full-time as a Director of Communications.
