As followers of Jesus, we are called to share the Hope of Jesus. We are either coming out of a storm, in a storm, or heading for a storm.

Hope is the ability to stand in the present and look into the future with confidence. Also, people want to know not only what does the future hold for me, but what will happen to me and my loved ones when we die? (09-09-2018)

Solomon. He was a builder. Built the temple for the Lord. Built many great buildings. Yet, he did not follow the wisdom of God when it came to family life. Hundreds of wives. In Ecclesiastes, he sums up many of his pursuits and efforts in one word: VANITY. Useless.

Superhero movies have made a comeback and crowds flock to theaters to watch these make-believe characters fight crime, defend freedom, and rescue humanity. But when the final credits roll, after the teaser trailer for yet another sequel, and the screen fades to black, you walk back out into the real world. (08-19-2018)

We may think that in our sin, the most serious consequence is the harm that we bring to someone else—a spouse, children, parents, friends, others. In our narcissistic age, we may even be tempted to think that the worst consequence of our sin is on ourselves. When you hurt yourself, that’s said to be the worst of all.

Even as children there seems to be something instinctive or intuitive in us that associates the DARK with FEAR. God isn’t a good-luck charm which you can pull out when you’re in a jam and rub the right way. (08-05-2018)
