In this episode of the Grow Clinton Podcast, Andy and Jenny are joined by Grow Clinton member Dan Fisher of Fisher House Bed & Breakfast, located in Downtown Clinton, Iowa.
The Fisher House B&B is a veteran-owned and operated business. The Fishers purchased the house in 2007 while Dan was still on active duty in the United States Air Force. The primary motivation for purchasing the house was its location close to relatives that the family had not spent much time with during our 25 years in military service. The other motivation was a desire to renovate and save a historic house. Once the house was identified, the idea of a Clinton-based B&B was born!
Please visit https://www.fisherhousebb.com/ to learn more.
The Fisher House Bed & Breakfast is a remodeled 1880s Queen Anne Victorian home located four blocks off the Mighty Mississippi River. The bed & breakfast has four tastefully decorated second-floor rooms, each with a private bath for your convenience. All bedrooms feature TEMPUR-PEDIC mattresses for maximum guest comfort.
When you arise to take on the day, a full, home-cooked breakfast is available from 6:30 to 9:00am. You can stay connected at home with Wi-Fi. When visiting, please take some time to explore the site and engage the team if you need something extra to accommodate your lodging requirements. If traveling with children under 12 or wanting to stay during the week, please look at the short-term rental options: The Guest House and The Guest Apartment.

AI-powered leadership involves developing the skills to understand, strategically implement, and ethically manage artificial intelligence to drive business outcomes, enhance decision-making, and foster innovation.
Effective AI-powered leaders harness data-driven insights to enhance performance, foster innovation, personalize customer and employee experiences, and ensure responsible use of emerging technologies. AI-powered leadership is not just technical—it’s strategic, ethical, and human-centered.
This timely and informative session will look at what AI is and how it works. What are some biases associated with AI, and what are some AI prompts, tools, and approaches that can best help facilitate effective leadership? We will also explore situations where using AI might not be the best approach.
Participants will learn why AI should be considered a co-leader, not a replacement for leadership. It enhances vision but doesn't define it.

Brandi and Andrea from Sterling Federal Bank join Andy and Jenny in this episode of the Grow Clinton Podcast.
Sterling Federal Bank - Member F.D.I.C.
These two banking professionals provide updates on their upcoming podcast series, community events, holiday cheer, and their spring Charity Challenge.
Sterling Federal Bank has been serving families through banking in Northwest Illinois (and, more recently, Northeast Iowa) since 1885. There were just 38 states when Sterling Federal Bank was born; Grover Cleveland was President of the United States; and the bank's hometown of Sterling, IL, was only about 50 years old.
The financial institution started out as Whiteside County Building & Loan Association with a small office in the old Galt Hotel on Locust and East Fourth in Sterling when we were chartered on November 9, 1885. Today, after a lot of history and a name change, Sterling Federal Bank is a $450 million institution with 9 convenient locations.
Many people call Sterling Federal a conservative bank. The team likes that description. Sterling Federal Bank has been here through two World Wars, the Great Depression of the 1930s, and the Great Recession of 2008-10. They know how to weather the economic storms—and how to help their customers do the same!
For more information and to set up an account, please visit Sterling Federal Bank online at https://www.sterlingfederal.com/.

Eagle Point Park, off Highway 67 North, will be filled with over 250 enchanted light displays, including a gingerbread lodge, streams, castles, and trains, for festivalgoers to enjoy. Its majesty and charm will transport you to the childhood vacations you remember so well.
Clinton, Iowa, hosted the Symphony of Lights in November 1996 thanks to the Clinton Symphony Orchestra and the Clinton Jaycee Foundation, two charitable organizations. The event's true purpose became clear to these groups after they initially planned it as a fundraiser.
After a long period of decline, the community finally felt pride thanks to the Symphony of Lights. Volunteerism was reawakened in people of all ages. Volunteers have increased dramatically since the program began. Roughly 400 people are thought to be involved.

Dorothy O'Brien, the owner of the Wide River Winery in Clinton, Iowa, joins Andy and Jenny in this episode of the Grow Clinton Podcast.
Dorothy O’Brien grew up in Winfield, Illinois, a rural area a little outside of Chicago. During her childhood, Dorothy participated in the local 4H program, where she initially developed a love for the outdoors, which later inspired her to cultivate plants in Iowa's soil.
It wasn’t until her thirties that Dorothy discovered a taste for wine. From there, she developed a strong interest in winemaking and growing. Then, in 1997, Dorothy began to read and research how to grow grapes and planted some of her own. Before she knew it, she was creating home-brewed wine in the basement for her and her family to enjoy. She and her family continued to learn about the winemaking process, attending classes and meetings with other Iowa winemakers covering topics like the best kind of yeast to use or the best winemaking methods.
Now, as the owner of a thriving winery, Dorothy continues to be a practicing attorney to this day. When not hard at work between Wide River and her law career, she can be found cooking, tending to flowers in her greenhouse, or enjoying the outdoors. You can see some of the beautiful blossoms she grows decorating our tasting rooms in the warmer months.
