For years, I thought planning meant control, if I could just build the perfect schedule, chaos couldn’t touch my home. It took a long time to realize planning was never supposed to be about control. It was supposed to be about peace.

This week’s episode is the companion to my video on how I plan our homeschool week in 15 minutes, but here, we go deeper into the why. We sit in Ecclesiastes 3:1 together and talk about why a good plan isn’t there to eliminate the need for God, it’s there to make space to actually notice Him.

I was abandoned by my biological father. I felt left by my mother who had to work. And I was bullied throughout school, always the target, always the go to for “mess.”

I thought I’d dealt with it. I thought I’d moved past it.

Until I started building a calling.

And then those wounds showed up.

Abandonment showed up as fear. Rejection showed up as people-pleasing. Bullying showed up as hiding.

And all of it sabotaged my calling.

I couldn’t build what God called me to build if I was operating out of wounds instead of healing.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about how past wounds show up in your present calling and how to heal from them while you keep building.

Hey Mama,

I was on a work call when my child came into the room. “Mommy, can you help me?”

And in that moment, the guilt hit like a wave.

“You’re a bad mom. You’re choosing work over your child. What kind of mom feels annoyed when their kid needs them?”

I felt the weight of it. The condemnation.

But then I paused. And I asked myself: “Is this guilt from God, or is this guilt from the enemy?”

Because there’s a difference.

Conviction from God is specific, corrective, and redemptive. But guilt from the enemy? It’s vague, condemning, and paralyzing.

And in that moment, I rebuked it.

Out loud, I said: “I rebuke the spirit of guilt. God did not give me a spirit of fear or condemnation.”

And the weight lifted.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt like I didn’t fit.

In school, I wasn’t like the other kids. In church, I didn’t fit the mold of what a “good Christian woman” was supposed to look like. I had dreams, ambitions, a drive to build something. And that confused people.

So I tried to conform. I tried to shrink. I tried to fit into boxes I was never meant for.

And when that didn’t work, I felt isolated. I questioned myself. I even questioned God. “Why did You make me like this? Why can’t I just be normal?”

But here’s what God showed me: I’m not different by accident. I’m different on purpose.

And so are you.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about what it means to feel different—and why that’s not a flaw, it’s a feature.

Remember: the very thing you’ve been trying to fix about yourself? That’s your superpower.
