Dr. Elena Herrera (ElenaHeals.com) and I discuss the impact of the growing over-65 population and how it is affecting younger generations - both physically and fiscally. We also talk about the predictions being published that project the number of Alzheimer's patients more than doubling over the next 24 years. You'll also hear how my mom lights up when the family jokes or teases with her. It's certainly going to be a gauge on how she's doing after her strokes. We are not experts when it comes to Alzheimer's or dementia. Here are some links for you to learn more from the experts: • What is Alzheimer's Disease? - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: https://www.cdc.gov/aging/aginginfo/alzheimers.htm • Alzheimer's Disease - Mayo Clinic: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/alzheimers-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20350447 • What is Alzheimer's Disease? Once again Dr. Elena Herrera (ElenaHeals.com) joins the podcast to help and share her own experiences. I make a bold move to kick this project into gear...at least a higher gear. Then I deal with the aftermath. I got my mom some puzzles and a book of memory-enhancing games specifically geared toward cognitive function. 4-Pack of Puzzles: "4 Packs Large Piece Puzzle for Seniors - Dementia 36 Pieces Puzzles for Elderly Adults,Alzheimer’s Puzzles Memory Cognitive Games for Elderly Seniors with 4 Storage Bags by mjyphdm" Book of Games: "The Easy and Relaxing Memory Activity Book for Adults: Includes Relaxing Memory Activities, Easy Puzzles, Brain Games and More by J.D. Kinnest"

Dr. Elena Herrera (ElenaHeals.com) joins the podcast to help and share her own experiences. I'm helping my mom and dad to get healthier, including doing low-impact yoga with my mom. We're hoping it will bring back some feeling on her left side that was left tingly after a minor stroke. My dad admits why he really invited me here.

You know those types of hoarders where you don't even know they are hoarders...until you open some cupboards or look in their garage? Well, to my surprise, that describes my parents. One of my goals is to prepare them for selling their house and moving on. This is a task that will entail preparing them physically AND mentally.

This first episode is a short introduction to the podcast. The reasons I'm doing this, examples of what to expect coming up, etc. The podcast will no doubt evolve moving forward. I'm hoping to get feedback from you and possibly even have you on the podcast to share your own situation - anonymously, of course. I'm looking forward to it. Rick (The Son)
