We have all had times when we don’t feel valued or worthy. This Sunday Pastor James discusses how our true worth is defined in the Lord’s meal, Holy Communion. Through the giving of His one and only Son, to die for our sins, God is visually saying, “You have great worth and are valued by me.” With His valuing and forgiveness in the meal, we are created anew, loving God more, and serving Him more faithfully: today, tomorrow, and forever.

In this 8th installment of “About the Music,” Director of Christian Education, Andy Muich, sits down once again, with Praise Band Music Director Dan Lamaestra, to talk about and present the latest offering from the Good Shepherd Praise Band, "Fresh Wind." Andy discusses specific scripture references (Acts 2:1-4, Job 33:4, and 2 Cor 2:15), and Dan points out unique aspects of the musical composition that give the song its characteristic sound.

This Sunday Pastor James asks, “What could cause you to lose heart?” Join him as we see that Paul, despite experiencing many situations where he could have easily lost heart, shares how the news of a resurrected Jesus gave him the strength and courage to endure and not lose heart. This becomes a great comfort to us as well, to know as a resurrected people, we are joined with a living Jesus who gives us hope – a hope that says, “I will not and cannot lose heart.”

In this Midweek Recharge, Pastor Johann discusses the importance of prayer. We are given instructions in The Lord’s Prayer that can look simple, yet are full of so much meaning. As we learn about prayer, remember that so much of life is about whose will is being done. Is it our will or God’s will? We pray to match and align our will with God’s will as we follow the instructions in The Lord’s Prayer.

On this Memorial Day, we remember our siblings: the fallen, the wounded, those who put themselves in harm’s way, and the families of those who did so. We remember among them, the fallen one, Jesus Christ, sent by His loving Father in heaven, who loved us so much that he sent his only begotten child to die for us. We remember the sacrifice, redemption, and salvific work Jesus, our joint heir, did on this Memorial Day weekend.

In this Midweek Recharge, Pastor Johann discusses the uncertainty of saying goodbye and farewell to our pets. We do not know what eternity awaits our pets only that God has given them to us as a special blessing, to love, cherish, and enjoy as our companions. When saying farewell we know that God loves all his creatures and we thank Him for these great gifts as we commit them to His care.

The Holy Spirit has been sent to us and has been with all of His followers since His ascension. Terms such as Counselor, Comforter, Challenger, and Advocate have been used as nicknames in order to help us understand the Spirit’s function. On this day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit reminds us about the existence of eternity and that we are never alone. Through the Holy Spirit we are guided through the challenges of daily life.

During the worship service we pray the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus’ prayer the night before his crucifixion. Pastor James’ message focuses on that prayer and how, even in the midst of His oncoming suffering and death, Jesus took the opportunity to pray for His friends, the disciples, and us. Through Jesus’ prayer we are assured that God will be faithful to answer our prayer for the strength and unity to live in our world today.
