Sarah discusses the New Testament texts assigned for the Nineteenth Sunday After Pentecost: James 5:13-20 and Mark 9:38-50. Both texts deal with community and how being not only a child of God, formed in God's image, but a community formed in God's image should affect our relationships both inside and outside of those communities.

Sarah talks about the Old Testament texts assigned for the Nineteenth Sunday After Pentecost: Numbers 11: 4-6, 10-16, 24-29 and Psalm 19:7-14. Numbers has a LOT of complaining, but even more of God's paitence and mercy, while the Psalm is poetry about God's law.

Sarah talks about the New Testament lessons assigned for the sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost: James 2:1-17 and Mark 7:24-37. Both texts ask questions of what it means to be in relationship, what God's love looks like, and what loving God means for loving our neighbors.

Sarah talks about the Old Testament texts assigned for the 16th Sunday After Pentecost: Isaiah 35:4-7a and Psalm 146. In both texts there are translations that give a slightly different perspective on how we might normally read and understand these verses and what that means for how these words affect our lives as children of God.
