  • A Day Of Freeze Drying Foods
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/mzlhdckn
I receive comments that I am living in fear because I build a food storage. The truth is that building a food storage brings me peace and security. If I waited until a disaster happened to make a plan, I would be doing it out of fear and scrambling to make things work. I won’t have to do that because I have planned and prepared ahead of time.
Would you rather rush to the nearest grocery store in panic the next time there is an emergency or would you rather have what you need at your home already?
I personally don’t want to be scrambling for scraps left at the grocery store or the last package of toilet paper. I also don’t want to be forced to put something on my face if I need something from the store again. Who knows what will be required to get food in the future…
That is why it is important NOW to build a food storage. Learn how to vacuum seal different foods to extend shelf life. I vacuum seal everything that goes into my freezer to create more space. I also vacuum seal fruits, cheeses, and meats in my fridge to extend their shelf life.
Learn to can do you can preserve food and have ready to eat meals on your shelf that you can eat in a pinch. Canning is a great way to help you stop relying on the grocery store because you can shift to making homemade foods like syrups, jams, jellies, stews, applesauce, and more! You won’t have to buy them from the store if you make and process them at home.
Learn how to use [Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers](https://gubbahomestead.com/food-preservation/5-items-for-easy-food-storage/). Mylar bags are your tool to creating a long term food storage. Most everything I freeze dry is stored in Mylar bags and added to my long term food storage. If I feel like making freeze dried snacks, I will store them in a jar and vacuum seal them between uses. Yes, you can vacuum seal jars!

  • Morning Tour of The Gubba Homestead
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/uqzpzvhz
    Homesteading is learning.
It only took two generations for the knowledge our great-grandparents had to almost vanish. As convenience stepped in, the need to know how to cultivate a garden and how to grow food for your family and how to raise livestock for meat and other self-sufficient skills dissipated.
I wish it didn’t in my family line, but it did.
You can homestead from anywhere. Our great-grandparents did it on the prairies and up on the mountains, but you can do it from wherever you are at. If you can’t keep livestock, you can still learn to bake from scratch, make home remedies, build a food storage, and source your food locally.
Don’t fixate on the why, take the opportunity of today!
What do you want to learn?

  • 5 Reason I Love Having Chickens!
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/zavwgrdk
    Reasons you should keep chickens:
    1) less food waste because they will eat a majority of your food scraps
    2) bug control! Chickens will eat the bugs in your yard even ticks and fleas.
    3) their manure is fertilizer
    4) they are a food source from eggs to meat
    5) you won’t be subject to rising egg prices
I am a firm believer that chickens are a wonderful gateway animal to self sufficiency. Even having two backyard hens is a great start!

  • Milk My Goat With Me! Just TWO Generations Is All It Took
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/ozvjncaq
It only took TWO generations for us to become completely disconnected from our food.
Instead of growing our own food or connecting locally with farmers, we are okay with the food industry putting funky ingredients in our foods that are lab-made. Truly, Frankenstein food. It all started with reading the ingredients on the back of my store-bought bread. When you realize bread should only have a few ingredients but the label at the store lists twenty or more, you start to wonder why. Our body reacts to how we treat it, so is it any coincidence that mental and physical illnesses are on the rise along with atrocious eating habits? How did we get here?
I was extremely disconnected from my food by being vegetarian for a majority of my life. I got hit with the animal rights videos young and didn’t realize that by not consuming meat, I was making myself sick. Consuming factory and big-farm meat would have also made me sick. The problem was I had no connection to my food. Now I do, and my meat is raised locally on farms where I see the animals grazing happily. They are not fed garbage and I interact with their caretakers. I invest in my health by investing locally.
This discussion makes people upset because they feel they are being judged. Instead, take accountability and turn to your community. Find local resources and put your foot down to big-food and say no more! No more will I willingly consume harmful man-made chemicals. No more will I let my family eat gunk! No more!
What is wild to me is the same people who love to yell at me that raw milk is dangerous are the same people who give their kids fruit loops for breakfast.
Research your ingredients and maybe you will end up on a homestead journey milking goats for raw milk too!

  • The Easiest Homemade Bread Recipe
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/rpmhtcga
Have you ever read the ingredient lists of grocery store bread?
They are loaded with preservatives because they need to sit on a shelf for weeks without going bad and other chemicals that have no business being in bread.
An easy health swap you can do in your life is to stop buying bread from the grocery store and start making it yourself.
It is simple, and your health will benefit.
I don’t have to wonder what calcium propionate or other weird ingredients are doing in my body anymore.
Get this recipe and others on my site [Homemade Bread Recipes](https://gubbahomestead.com/?s=bread) This one is called Homemade Bread Recipe.

  • I Got Some Stinky Goats!
    https://3speak.tv/watch?v=gubbatv/xmirtcgr
I Did It! I got two male goats otherwise known as bucks and they STINK! lol In this video I'll go over why and give you some updates about what's going on here on the [Gubba Homstead](https://gubbahomestead.com).
Raw milk is nature’a whole food. Nutrient dense and full of everything you need to process lactose and to nourish your body.
Have you tried raw milk? Currently, I have Nigerian Dwarf goats who I milk for my own source of raw milk. It is delicious, naturally homogenized, and nutrient dense.
Homesteading creates strong women. When I think of the stories of my great-grandma who homesteaded while raising 12 children, I am inspired! Through embarking on my own homestead journey, I have been able to discover my sacred purpose as a woman.
Anyone can homestead, anywhere. Start where you are at with what you have. Have a small porch? Get some grow bags to decorate it. Find a community garden to participate in and get to know your community (community is everything.) Source your food locally. You will taste the difference and feel the difference.
Homesteading is for anyone, anywhere. You just need the desire to do it!
