Guide to the 21st Century

 Welcome back to this weeks instalment of the Guide to the 21st Century podcast! This week Scott and Lewis will be recording the eagerly awaited first in-person episode. In part one of this episode, the pair will take a moment to consider who the Alt-right are and where do their toxic views originate? The discussion will involve the dramatic growth of the alt-right during the Trump campaign, implementation of memes and overall disillusion many Alt-right activists have regarding the western world. 

 Episode 6 Part 2 of the Guide to the 21st Century podcast! In the second half of this episode, Lewis will bring to the table his thoughts on what it is to be a patriot in the modern day. Scott and Lewis will attempt to understand how views on patriotism have changed, leading down a rabbit hole involving white supremacist groups, loss of identity and political cynicism. 

 Welcome to episode 6 of the Guide to the 21st Century podcast! In part one of this episode, Scott and Lewis will be considering the concept of separating art from the artist. As the conversation continues, the duo will discuss how this links to cancel culture and why these should be inherently separated.  This week in the Guide to the 21st Century podcast, Scott and Lewis will be discussing the choices faced by students leaving high school. The pair will look back at the choices they themselves made when leaving secondary education, thinking about the choices young people face and what they may wish to consider before making this important decision. In the second half, Scott will approach the nebulous question of immigration in the UK. What sort of rights do EU immigrants posses and where does the vitriol towards immigrants originate? 

This week, Scott has seen several twitter threads advocating hormone blockers as a reversible treatment for children potentially suffering from gender dysphoria. Meanwhile, Lewis has been thinking about the pros and cons of the UKs BBC and the decision the UK government has made to maintain the current BBC pricing model.  This week on the Guide to the 21st Century podcast Lewis will bring to the table his thoughts on the emergence of 'super-straight' sexuality and will attempt to delve into why this movement received the backlash it did on social media platforms.
In the second half of the episode Scott will discuss the recent lack of outrage of a racial slur claim made by footballer Glen Kamara and how this reveals a hypocritical cover-up by UEFA. This leads to Scott and Lewis considering the false messaging and lip service corporations seemingly make concerning race equality. 

Continued from Part 1, Lewis and Scott will discuss Lewis' concern over how data gathering by social media platforms and ISPs  could be leading to an increase in polarisation and radicalisation, ultimately resulting in the potential breakdown of democracy as we know it.
