Guidelines For Living Devotional

"Sing to the LORD a new song," says Psalm 96, but more than a few people today would just as soon sing an old song to the Lord. 

Sir Thomas More used to tell about a friend who was an addicted gambler.  Concerned for him and his family, More used to plead with him to stop his gambling and start supporting his family.

We are quick to rejoice when the blessings are flowing from the storeroom of heaven! 

God made you in such a way that you can survive tremendous ordeals--illness, imprisonment, persecution, and privation.  You can live without food and water--far longer than you might think.

Our generation is not so sure, so confident, that God is our hope for years to come. 

"When Earth's last picture is painted," asked the brilliant writer Rudyard Kipling, "will it be a picture of the despair of hope?" 

Take a map and trace the three journeys of the Apostle Paul throughout the Middle East and you will quickly acknowledge, considering how difficult travel was in the first century, that covering the distances he did was no small feat. 

Troubled by the uncertainty you have in your heart as to whether or not, should you stand in the presence of God, you would be greeted with joy or rejection?  Vast numbers of people are there! 

Does it really matter any more what you do, as long as you get away with it? It would seem not, based on what is happening in our world.  Like what?  One poll shows that 79% of those interviewed expect politicians to lie to them.

From the beginning of time people have looked into the heavens, knowing that God was there, wondering what must done to please Him.
