  • The Way of True Repentance
This sermon explores the nature of true repentance through an exposition of Psalm 51, emphasizing that genuine contrition requires acknowledging the filthiness of sin while simultaneously apprehending God's mercy. The preacher outlines three essential components of this spiritual process: recognizing personal guilt, trusting in divine forgiveness, and applying the atoning blood of Christ for purification. By analysing David's prayer, the text illustrates how believers must move beyond superficial regret to a deep, personal confession that leads to faith in Jesus' sacrificial death. The message underscores that salvation is not achieved through human effort but through the cleansing power of Christ's blood, which washes the soul completely clean. Finally, the sermon calls listeners to embrace this gospel truth and share the hope of redemption with others.

  • The Gospel Frees Us from Shame and Pride
Shame says that we are unworthy and can never be accepted. Pride says that we are sufficient and do not need anyone's help. While they appear to be opposite struggles, both seek identity and worth apart from Jesus Christ. In this episode of Anchored in the Word, Dave Jenkins explains from Romans 3:22–24 how the gospel humbles human pride while healing the shame of repentant sinners. All people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, leaving no room for boasting. Yet believers are justified freely by God's grace through the redemption accomplished by Christ. The cross exposes the seriousness of our sin and displays the greatness of God's grace. Because Christ bore the guilt and condemnation His people deserve, Christians no longer need to prove themselves through pride or hide themselves in shame. Their forgiveness, acceptance, and identity rest securely in the finished work and perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ alone. • Righteousness: Bondservants (Slaves) of Christ
We have become Bondservants (slaves) of Christ to do what is pleasing unto God which now causes us to have to mortify our members to unrighteousness, no longer yielding them to the bondage since we are now dead to sin, we can no longer serve it since we have a new master. We can not serve two masters, our loyalty now belongs to Christ, whom we are a new creation in, our bodies no longer belong to us.

  • God Will Not Be Dismissed
God Will Not Be Dismissed (1 Samuel 6:1-9) The sermon examines the Philistines' seven-month struggle with the Ark of the Covenant to illustrate that God cannot be dismissed or treated as a mere mechanism for relief. It contrasts their desire to simply remove pain with the necessity of genuine reconciliation and submission to God's authority. The preacher warns against inventing human remedies for guilt, emphasizing that only Christ's sacrifice provides true atonement rather than superficial religious adjustments. A critical theme is the danger of hardening one's heart despite clear evidence of God's hand, urging immediate obedience over delayed or intellectualized responses. Ultimately, the message calls believers to acknowledge God's glory and justice, seeking a softened heart rather than just a changed circumstance.

  • Made Sinners in Adam, Made Righteous in Christ
In Romans 5:12-21, Paul answers the question, "How can the obedience of one Man justify the multitudes of sinners who place their faith in them?" And his inspired answer was that since the guilt and sin of one man, Adam, was imputed to all his descendants (over whom he is head), then the righteousness of one Man, Christ Jesus, can be imputed to all that come under His headship by faith. The doctrines of original sin, human depravity, and imputation are difficult, but clear in Scripture and clearly foundational to the gospel. And understanding that sinners are condemned as sinners because of the sin of another (Adam) but can be received as righteous because of the works of another (Christ) is key to our gratitude, praise and security in Christ. Intro: Two Covenants and Two Heads (w/Catechism) I. Those in Adam have Adam's Sin Imputed (v12) II. ---That is Unfair! (vv13-14) III. ------That is Grace! (vv15-17) IV. Those in Christ have Christ's Righteousness Imputed (vv18-21)

  • Servants (Slaves) of Righteousness
We see where we have become bond-servants or slaves of righteousness when we enter into the covenant with Our Lord. It is being set at liberty from bondage to sin, to the liberty in Christ Jesus. we freely began mortifying our members not to yield our selves unto unrighteousness, for we are slaves to whom we yield our members to obey.

  • The Ear, Heart, and Hands of Revival
This sermon distinguishes true, Spirit-driven revival from man-made emotionalism by examining the events in Nehemiah chapter 8. The preacher argues that genuine revival begins with a laity-led hunger for Scripture, characterized by attentive listening and a desire to understand God's Word rather than seeking manipulative experiences. Key theological themes include the necessity of expository preaching that exposes sin while simultaneously pointing to the hope of atonement in Christ, which produces deep joy rather than mere guilt. The text highlights three marks of authentic revival: ears attentive to the law, hearts transformed by the joy of the Lord, and hands that obey God's commands. Ultimately, the message calls believers to seek personal revival through a sustained appetite for Scripture and a life of obedient action.
