I made a recording of the Chaconne from the famous Violin Partita by Bach once. Its on reel to reel and I won't be sharing that one any time soon. The middle arpeggio section when played by Segovia used to sound absolutely stunning. This piece is influenced by that section of the Chaconne. I'm fully aware it doesn't hold a candle to the Bach piece and I'm ( very defensively ) not claiming it has any similarity - you'll hear it most definitely doesn't. I just wanted to explain  where the piece came from...

For me this is jamming in the garage with mates for hours on end. Homespun - from about 1972 to 1975. The riff was off a very old and worn reel to reel tape taken from my Dad's Phillips 4407 ( I think ) - a very coffee table friendly tape machine.

Typical English bloke - obsessed  with the weather. I was trying to record today and it was like a hurricane out there ( I exaggerate) . Anyway I was trying to find something jolly for a Monday morning in January . its not a great month. Two more January Mondays to go in 2023. Wishing the year away already .

A tune from the old recordings on reel to reel from 1986. I've extracted the guitar parts and re-worked the backing track. I'm not sure about the 1980's - this sounds like it comes from the 60's or at latest 70's - what was I listening to. ?

Or .. from sorrow to joy in three pieces. yes the joy is a bit subdued ( Round Dance ) but that's how it is sometimes. Two steel guitar pieces with a nylon string piece sandwiched in the middle. To the 3 boys - to reflect the trials and tribulations they are all going through. It will all be OK.

This is a positive tune - things are about to change . I feel optimistic about 2023 for people in general for the world as a whole. I started thinking about the tune  "as things can only get better" - but that seems almost defeatist.

A combination of a rhythmic passage from Brian Protheroe's Pinball and some Django Reinhardt ideas. Re- mixed in stereo - I hope it worked this time .

Variations on a theme - The theme is  played twice, once at the end of each section of the piece. Its based around a slight rhythmic simplification of a  Mike Oldfield theme - in fact probably his most well known theme.
