Southwest Florida’s premiere fashion event “ Art Walks the Runway ” returns to the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers for its eighth year. The event runs May 17-19 and features local and international fashion designers along with music and dance performances, a contortionist, body art and more. Lionfish were first reported off Florida’s Atlantic Coast back in 1985. And since the mid 2000s, the number being reported has increased rapidly, and they're now being spotted all the way to the northern Gulf of Mexico near Pensacola. Lionfish are an invasive species that has a potential negative impact on native species and habitat. Governor Ron DeSantis recently announced the formation of a Blue-Green Algae Task Force that’s charged with reducing adverse impacts of the toxic algae blooms over the next five years.
